Most OEM for scanners have a web site where you can download drivers for scanners because they offer downloadable updates over time. Also some of the more modern OS (Windows 7, etc) have generic drivers that will work.
What is your operating system (Mac, Windows Xp, Vista, Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) What is the model of your scanner.
Knowing the brand, model, and OS is essential for solving your problem.
You can download the driver of CanonScan N676U for Windows Vista operating system and install it. Please click here which you can download the driver. In the web page, under the headline “Drivers/Software Selection” select your OS (Operating System) as “Windows Vista”. Then, find the “Drivers” headline below and click on the file name “lide20lide30n670un676un1240uvst7031a_xpen.exe” to download. After downloading please install the drive running the downloaded exe file.

Below is a link to the list of the only scanners that VISIONEER has written a Vista driver for(and not likly to write any more for former scaners.) Your model in not on that list. Unless, for some reason , they decide to write a Vista driver, you will never bve ableo to use that scanner with the Vista OS. No one else will ever write one either.
Please don't rate me badly for telling the whole truth even thought you may not like it.
The below link is where I took the followign from:http://support.visioneer.com/UK/products/tools/OS/
As Microsoft continues to release new versions of it's Windows Operating System, the requirements for peripherals and software change. Visioneer scanners are designed to leverage the tools and features included with the operating systems that are current when products are released. When feasible, we develop scanner drivers for new versions of Windows. On the day Windows XP was released, Visioneer had more scanners qualified to wear the Designed for Windows XP logo than any other scanner maker. In spite of our best efforts, major changes in the underlying architecture of Windows XP make it impossible to write new drivers for many of our older model scanners.
Visioneer posts the last release of drivers on each Product's Homepage and provides online support for older products. Scanners designed to work with older versions of Windows may not function properly after upgrading your computer's operating system.
We offer an industry leading upgrade program, giving a 25% discount from our online scanner store for customers that return their old unit to ensure proper disposal as part of our environmental recycling program. For details visit Visioneer's Trade Up Offer.
You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.
