37" Polaroid Television repair please walk me through it.
I need help. I took the back panel off. I see two boards the top board has some black ribs on it that look like heat exchangers. It is smaller than the bottom board. I see two green capacitors side by side on the top board. Are these the correct capacitors. The is another larger cap. about an inch below these two should it be replaced also. Or am I looking at the wrong things?

Just had the same type of problem with a Polaroid 37". Turns out it was two capacitors on the display board. When they go bad, they either leak or bulge at the top. They have to be replaced. You have to take the back access panel off to get to it. I wish I could give you step by step instructions on how to do this but I don't have them. Toshiba may also put theirs together different than Polaroid does. It only cost me about $5.00 and an hour to repair mine. Hope yours is as easy. I hope this helps you.
i had the same problem. i opened the panel in the back of the tv (3 screws) and opened the aluminum panel (3 screws). there's a red led light located at the bottom left corner of the top board. to the right of the led light, you will find this thing with 4 switches. i turned the two bottom switches "burn" and "epmw" to on. so far tv have been working.
Without actually seeing the problem, I can't be 100% sure, but this sounds like a defect in the LCD panel itself. Is there any possibility that you can post a picture of the problem? That would allow me to confirm the problem. Please note that if the panel is the problem, the set is not worth the repair as the replacement panel costs $2209.15 plus shipping.
I think I may finally have the answer for the "black screen of death" for the 42" Polaroid LCD televisions. I was having the same issue with the screen going black after a couple minutes of being on. I would shut it down then turn it back on and it would work again for 5-10 minutes. On the "power board" which is the board on top, there is a little red light that turns on when the screen would go black. above that there are 4 little switches, the lower on says BURN. I simply switched that over and the television has been working for 2 days for 8 hours + each day. Hope this help. Let me know
Common problem with Polaroid 32 and 37" television. Problem is most likely the control board, at cost of around $400. physically disconnect power to television. keep disconnected for 30 min. Plug TV back in and turn on. That may fix the problem temporarily, but more problems are sure to come...
