I assume that the printer is connected to the wireless network, if that is that case have you tried running the installer CD for the printer on the Windows XP machine. Then at a certain step when it asks the connection type, choose shared printer or network printer.
It might be that it is not able to detect the printer because of a driver missing.

You have to connect to your network without using wireless then u have to go to the linksys website and download the windows 7 driver. Install that driver then u can connect with wireless. Worked for me! Gl.

What is the exact model number of your wireless adapter?

If you are using the WUSB54GC v3, this will work with Win 7 using the Windows Vista driver.

Wusb54gc connection with wrt160n

If the desktop is a Win XP computer, Uninstall the WUSB54GC, restart the computer and then once it boots up and ready, plug the wusb54gc, once it ask for the drivers insert the cd and let it find the drivers then install it.You will be using the Windows wireless configuration and see if that will work.
