Question about Heating & Cooling

Window Air conditioner pulls too many amps

My Whirlpool window air conditioner, model ACQ108MRQ, keeps kicking the compressor off. I found that instead of pulling the estimated 8 amps, it is pulling 23 amps when the compressor kicks on, then reduces down to about 19 before the compressor kicks off due to overload. I'm not sure if it's the compressor that's bad or if there is something else causing it to pull too many amps, therefore not allowing the compressor to run. The compressor will only run for a minute or two before kicking off. The air conditioner is only two years old. Please help. fan motor starts then slowly stops

What causes a window unit air conditioner to run for 5 mins then runs only the fan?

It could be low on freon. or the compressor may be getting stock puling hi amps, and the overload switch is keeping it from kick in inn.

Thermostat on whirlpool window unit keeps resetting to 86. will not cool room.

Check if the compressor runs when you start your air-conditioner. If it runs, make sure the evaporator sweats and the condenser at the back blows hot air. If not, you have freon leak and check for oil marks inside your a/c unit.If the compressor does not start, check your compressor overload, capacitor, and use a clamp meter to determine if you have a defective compressor.

WHEN COMPRESSOR KICKS ON THE UNIT SEEMS TO LOSE ALL POWER AND DOES NOT COOL. AS SOON AS COMPRESSOR KICKS OFF THE FAN RETURNS TO NORMAL SPEED BUT NEVER PUTS OUT ANY COLD AIR

HMMM this sounds like a couple things possible Low voltage due to lose wiring some place. or low voltage due to the power company . something is pulling more amps than it should.

During low voltage period window AC compressor shudders and kicks off, but fan runs, when voltage returns normal compressor runs.

low voltage issues causes higher amp draw and equipment to run a lot harder. whats causing the low voltage problem to the equipment? high amp draw of the compressor could be causing it to overheat and trip until the compressor physically cools down.

Air compressor does not kick in unless ambient temp is > 80

Do not operate low fan and maximum temperature as the coils will freeze up stopping air flow.
