Sounds like first you must know if you are low on freon!!

How old is the unit?

If the central air is 20 years old or more you may not be advisable to put good money into bad!

Why tempstar 5000 High Efficiency a/c outside fan won't turn off ?

Sounds like your contactor is sticking in your outside unit. They could be welded shut.

I HAVE A CARRIER CENTRAL AIR, THE OUTSIDE FAN IS BLOWING INWARD AND WON'T SHUT OFF WHEN THE FURNACE SHUTS OFF AFTER TEMP IS REACHED

Check the t-stat to make sure that the "fan" switch is st to auto. If not the fan is in the "on" position and is always on. Otherwise, It sounds like your "Central Air" is a packaged unit(Furnace and air all one unit outside the home) and the fan relay inside the unit is stuck. This need to be replaced. It is the rectangular unit with the leads from the fan motor attached to it.

The central air turns on, but does not cool. The fan outside of the house is not moving. Is there a switch I need to use to turn the outside fan on?

There should be an electrical box next to your exterior unit. Open it up and there should be a pull handle on an electrical bridge. Usually when it is turned one way it will make an electrical connection and if it is rotated 180 degrees and plugged in it won't make an electrical connection.

AC compressor wiil not turn on

You will have to find the contactor which is located in the outside unit. And check the voltage at the contactor, 26 v as this is the thermostat calling for the compressor to come on. You can also push in the contactor and see if the fan and compressor start. There should be an outside fuse box close to your condensing unit. Good luck

Can i run the fan on my inside unit if the outside unit is not working

You should be able to run the fan on the inside unit if the outside one isn't working. If you're worried, turn off the circuit breaker for the outside unit. If you don't know why the outside unit isn't working, check the circuit breaker at the breaker panel, check the breaker inside the box that electrically connects to the outside unit, and check the outside unit for a reset button.

Goodman air handlers (inside unit) fan have a delay timer that turn on the fan ,sometimes up to 3 minutes after the outside unit is on,this makes the a/c more efficiency.

Outside unit come on for ac but inside won't come on for ac or heat

Turn Tsat to fan to see if inside unit will come on. If it does Tstat needs replaced. If not it is fan motor or fan relay. Possible cap. Do you here the fan relay come in. If it is a Good man unit it is time delay and you wont here it. Need to know your make of unit. Rusty

A/C quit running

This question is really to broad to answer. There are several things that could cause it to stop running. I think I would turn everything off, let it cool down for several hours and try it again. When you kick it back on, take note of what is running and what's not running. Inside fan, outside fan, compressor. If the outside unit will not run at all it could be as simple as a grasshopper caught in the contacts. If you hear the compressor running outside but no outside fan, The fan motor probably needs replaced. Please make sure that all power to the unit is TURNED OFF before removing cover plates on outside unit and before trying to remove insects from contact points. Check all wiring inside outside unit while it is open. Also check capacitors for swelling or leaking. If you don't know how to turn all the power off or open the outside unit, you need to call a professional AC technician. Hope this helps. kstfas
