Re: double print and curve screen
This is an indication of convergence problem. from your description the curved screen indicates complete loss of covergence. First question is in setup menu do you have the convergence option? if no then it will be the fl231 fuse problem. common to these set and if you can solder. its not a difficult repair. if you do have the option. then it can be any or all of three cuircit boards. let me know and i will do my best to see if i can help you fix it

You have a bad capacitor off the vertical output I.C..Find the pin off the I.C. that represents the out of the I.C. If you have a capacitor checker, you can check the ESR(equivalant series resistance) to see if it reads high.Look on the internet for a schematic, this will show which pin of the vertical I.C. is output, and the cap. that leads off it..
Alrighty, very common problem on this set. Here's a rundown of the repair if you're a DYI:
With the back cover off you'll notice a set of boards on the bottom of the TV and a pair of boards sitting up over the two bottom boards. The problem lies in the upper-right hand board which is the color convergence power supply. Either replace or repair this board. The repair involves the main power mosfet (a three legged regulator on a heat sink) and two diodes next to it.
Next, the bottom right hand board needs to be removed and a fuse replaced next to the flyback. If you are versed in electronics I can detail the repair further otherwise you're going to have to have a shop do the repair.
This is a problem with the pincushion and convergence circuits. Are you planning on repairing this yourself? If so, I'll look up the circuit designations and parts. If not, expect a parts cost in the $15 range plus the local labor rate.
The curved picture indicates failing parts in the pin amp section and probably some faulty parts in the scan amplifier sections. The set is being turned off by the uPC because there is a fault indicated, and it is going in to protect mode.
