Passwords are encrypted type. There is no special code that you need to enter to bypass the password for this unit. The only way for you to use this unit again is to do a Hard Reset. Meaning everything will be back to original factory state. If you decide to do that, then please follow the procedure below:
A clean reset clears all user-installed settings, programs, and data, and restores your HP iPAQ to factory settings. To perform a clean reset and return your HP iPAQ to factory settings: 1.Press and hold the Answer/Send, Power, and End Call buttons. 2.While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the HP iPAQ until the device restarts. 3.When the HP iPAQ restarts, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button. The HP iPAQ restarts and powers on.
A factory reset erases all user-installed settings, programs, and data, and restores your HP iPAQ to factory settings. CAUTION All user-installed settings, programs, and data are erased from memory with a factory reset. To perform a factory reset and return your HP iPAQ to factory settings:
Press and hold the OK and Rotate Screen buttons.
While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the HP iPAQ until the device restarts.
When the HP iPAQ restarts, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button.
The HP iPAQ will now restart and power on.
If you have done the above and still no go. Then your main drive has probably failed.
I have an IPAQ 5555 and although it's old it works pretty well. A few things to be aware of - you need to upgrade the ROM to the latest version. I don't have the links to the downloads but you should be able to find them on the HP site.
The problem that you will likely run into is Windows 7 and Activesync. I did everything via Activesync on Windwos XP - hooked up to my PC and installed software, sync'd appts and contacts etc... Activesync won't install on Windows 7 due to "incompatibilities"
I just installed "Windows Mobile Device Center" for Windows 7 and was able to get my device connected to my machine but syncing is not yet working.
As for WiFi access, from what I remember it's just a matter of turning on the networking via the Ipaq Wirelss app (icon is a little green square) and then turning on WLAN. That will hopefully cause two little left and right arrows to appear up in the top blue bar on the device's screen - the top left LED should also flash green to indicate that you're connected to your network. If the LED is flashing amber then your networking is on but your not connected to anything yet. If this is the case then the icon showing will likely be two arrows with an x. Touching this icon should open a small window called "Connectivity". On this window you can click on the "Settings" link, go to the "Advanced" Tab and rthen click on the "Networks" button at the bottom of the resulting screen.
You should now see a list of available networks - make sure your router is broadcasting Wireless G and not just N or you probably won't see it. If you do see your network's SSID then touch and hold the entry and select the "Conect" 'option on the resulting menu.
Starting out I would keep your wireless security turned off just to keep it simple. If you can connect this way then you can think about securinng your network. Once secured it's basically the same proceudre but you just have to enter your WEP key.
btw if installing some of the HP service packs etc.. for 5555 doesn't work using Windows 7 and the Mobile Device Center (it may .. I haven't tried) you may try loading Windows XP Mode on your Windows 7 box and then installing Activesync in the virtual environment and working in there just to get your device upgraded
There is a feature in the browser to view the page in full screen mode.
Are you running 2003 OS on the Pocket Pc or Windows 5.0.

I thought my 5555 with 1.10.10 was the latest and most stable?? How come i didnt know about 1.10.13 ROM Update...
Anyway, i think it is your Camera Update that causes it.
But to confirm, which ROM are you using now?
Go to "Start" >> Settings >> "Asset Viewer" >> Under Version >> check the ROM Revision.
1.10.10 had no major problems, only sometimes when i couldnt connect to my wireless router / bluetooth problems, but now it is okay, dun worry.
