Then go to control panel, system ,hardware ,device manager option
There if u find any question mark or exclamation mark in yellow Color that means sound drivers are not installed properly
please reinstall sound drivers properly

or else

If no question mark or exclamation mark then check the cable connections of the speaker to the machine

or else

In control panel , select sound audio devices open it there u have
volume,sounds,audio,voice,hardware options

1)See whether it is mute
2)In audio option select default audio device and recording device

Cant play cd audio but will play dvd

ALL CD's or just one CD? Depends on the file format and the Media Player. Have you tried another Media Player? Does the CD work in another Computer? Did you make the CD? What is the Media on the CD?

Did download a VLC but Win Media Player says"

Did you try playing the dvd using VLC instead of windows media player?

VLC is a separate player for media files. It will not enable Win media player to play DVDs but WILL play DVDs very nicely on it's own.

If you still want to get win media player to work you might try installing this free codec pack : http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html

  • Download.
  • Install.
  • Restart computer.
Hopefully you should be good to go.

Good luck ;)

Try Klite codec pack, and then play the dvd's in Windows Media player. Problems have been known to occur in Power Dvd. Klite codec pack can be foud at (http://www.free-codecs.com/K_lite_codec_pack_download.htm) Hope this helps.

Acer aspire 2930 DVD player only opens some dvds

Try Media player classic under k-lite codec pack. Then open video files on the dvd. If it doesn't help try another codec player. If nothing helps could it be that dvd player is not capable of multilayer dvd reading.

No audio file will play on WMP, no dvd or audio disk will play...

Windows Media Player cannot play several files in the playlist. This might be caused by one or more problems.
To find information about the specific problems, click the Now Playing tab, and then click the blue or red icon next to each file in the List pane.
In some cases, you might encounter this error message if there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. For example:
  • Your sound device requires an updated driver. To determine if an updated driver is available, see Windows Update or see the sound device manufacturer's Web site.
  • Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem, see Windows Help and Support or refer to your sound device's documentation.
  • You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound device, and then try to play the file again

REQUIRED VIDEO DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR ABOVE LAPTOP . 1. NO VIDEO WHILE PLAYING DVD ON WINDOW MEDIA ONLY AUDIO. 2. IN POWER DVD OR VLC MEDIA PLAYER, VIDEO AND AUDIO IS IS NOT PLAYING SMOOTHLY AS NORMAL BUT...

1. It seems to be codec problem . Download K-Lite Mega Pack and install it. Then try playing the movie in windows media player classic that comes with k lite mega codec pack.
2. check your system for trojan , virus or any program that is using system resources. Often Video problems are caused by insufficient resources available by video/audio decoders.
3. System stand by could be missing because your bios settings dont allow it. Enter the BIOS and reset settings to default.

Shaky sound and video

To solve this:

1- Check if you have more than 1 DVD player program installed. If yes, uninstall any you don't use (being careful not to uninstall the one you use or that's needed for the recording part of what you do)
2- Check if you have more than 1 Media player software like VLC media player, Microsoft Media player (automatically installed) etc.

Because it also affects video played saved on your computer (assuming AVI or video you play using Windows Media Player or another player) and DVD playback, its usually a program that is conflicting with another of the same type (plays media Audio/Video). If the above solution did not work, try performing the "system restore" and choose a date of when you definitely remember it working without chatter. If this is not an option, proceed below.

If your computer has been performing regular updates and you happen to be using a new Windows Media player, do you remember if it happened during a computer software update? If yes, the fault lies with Windows Media player having performed an upgrade to itself. You may want to "demote" media player by going to Control Panel and "add or remove programs" list (making sure "show updates" is checked) and scroll down until you see Windows Media player. Then uninstall the latest update it has performed.

If you installed another media player/DVD player program(s) and it coincides with your problems, uninstall it. Multiple DVD/Media players have their own settings, file changes/updates and they can affect one another if installed simultaneously on 1 system.

Let us know how it goes and rate us. :)

Audio and video issues when trying to play a dvd

Im not an expert on this, but it sounds like a codex problem and you need updated codex software. You can get free stuff off the web but I wouldnt know where to look. Another option is to download another DVD player program to play the DVD instead of using WIndows Media. There are some free ones on the web, but I'd recommend spending 20 bucks or so on one so you dont get loaded down with adware.

You need a new DVD codec. If you have a copy of WinDVD, give it an install. Otherwise, try the free codec on www.divx.com.
