The meat in my chest freezer is frozen (all except bacon) but ice cream is soft. Is frozen when placed in freezer but gets soft. Seal on lid appears fine--no cracks or breaks and touches all around the freezer. Ice does form inside the freezer at the top inside wall. I have turned the freezer to a colder settling (4 slots higher) and have removed the ice forming on the wall several times but the formation of ice continues. When turning the freezer setting higher I could not hear the motor kick in.
I have the same problem. Ice cream is soft and creamy yet fish feels frozen. I have the same problem. Ice cream is soft and creamy yet fish feels frozen.

Hi, As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Turn the t'stat up to 9. You want to save the meat and ice cream. It sounds like you may be losing freon. Get it looked at soon so you won't come home and find meat soft and ice milk.
I keep min two notches from the coldest setting.A great way to check where you should set yous,is ice cream.Put an open container of ice cream in the freezer, and turn the freezer to coldest. The next day try to scoop the ice cream. If the ice cream is hard the freezer is too cold.Adjust the freezer two notches ,and try the ice cream the next day.Repeat till you are happy with the hardness of the ice cream. It should be easy to scoop but not too soft.
Hi,
It is normal for those lights ot flicker.. as long as the unit is working then do not worry about that...the light really is just showing you that you have power to the unit...
If this is a self defrosting model make sure that you don't have frost build up on the back wall of the freezer causing the air not to circulate like it should. If you do have frost build up other items will eventually start thawing as well. If this is the case you have a defrost problem.
If this is not a self defrosting model then make sure it does not need defrosting.
You normally will notice ice cream being soft before you notice other things thawing.
Also make sure the door is shutting good and you may try putting the ice cream in a different location.
You need to remember heat rises and cold air falls. The best way to load a freezer is to put meats on the bottom. They take alot longer to freeze and thaw and can save your stock if you have a power failure. Keep non-critical things like ice cream, ice, and other thing towards the top for quicker access.
Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again. Keep me informed
and PLEASE give a Thumbs Up for the effort. The Raz Shack
ice cream is always the last to freeze and a temp of minus -10 degrees is usually required to get it to get hard. if you put the ice cream in the door it will be especially tough to freeze. a good thermometor is a good investment as you can observe the temps. usually ten degrees or 20 degrees is what they run. yes they do cycle on and off as long as they hold temps thats good. the outside of the freezer gets warm because the hot compressed refrigerant is spread through piping near its surface giving up its heat of compression . setting the stat to max will freeze the ice cream eventually but utility bill suffers . good luck
I have the same problem. Ice cream is soft and creamy yet fish feels frozen.
