Okay I got a good one here. I have a 2 Channel MOSFET Nitro Bmw-484 1200w amp. I have been using it for about two years now. About a week ago I got in my car and as I would drive, my bass from the subs would come on and off, and then the day after this happened it stopped completely, hasnt work since then. The amp does recieve power, the RED Protect light isnt on, it stays green. I bought a new amp and it works fine so i dont believe its anything with the connections. What might be the problem?

SOURCE: my nitro bmw-486 amp is in protect mode how can I

protect mode is activated either because of a short in a speaker wire or because of excessive line voltage like the volume being too loud. atleast that the most common reasons that I have experienced.

SOURCE: hello, i have a nitro

its because to be honest. its not that good of an amp. im not bashing your choice bro, but cheaper amps use cheaper components inside, which means the little parts get hot and tell the amp to protect itself from burning up and go into a standby mode.
maybe you have loose wires in the speake rbox, which are bouncing around and making it short, or your trying to jam too hard and the amp is just getting too hot. its probably in your trunk or under your seat and that dont help the amp at all. it needs to be cool when its on,

turn down the gain . i know it makes it bass more, but your over driving the amp, which makes it get hot faster.
if the amp is good quality amp, then maybe your speakers are not strong enough to handle the power and it makes the amp hot because it cannot get rid of the power thru the speakers like its supposed to.
turn the gain down, use bigger wire to the speakers.
the amp will also get hot if you dont have enought power for what it needs. maybe you need a 1 farad cap between your battery and the amp on the red wire. the cap holds extra power so the amp dont struggle to get 14.5 volts from your 12 volt battery.

I have the Nitro BMWX 483 4 channel amp, BMWX 484 2channel amp , and I have the Nitro BMWX 424 4 band EQ !! Now what I'm trying to do is hook up both amps together to the EQ ! So far, I hav the BMWX...

From what I have read about this EQ it is just for subsonic frequencies. You really don't want to run your components through this EQ. Leave the components running off of the 4 channel amp and your sub box on the two channel with the EQ in series between your head unit and the sub amp.

Blown channel

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Might be time to rep .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. blown-channel-zb4bomd1rt4qms0dqd12kkt2-3-0.jpg

Nitro 1000 w amp

unplug the speakers and the RCA leads from the amp, if the red protection light is still lit then its 1 of your linear amps blown or mosfet depending what your amp uses..if the red light does go off with the leads all disconnected, then connect 1 lead at a time and check the light, when you connect the bad lead or speaker then the light will come on and you know that 1 needs replacing..hope this helps

Nirto bmw-486 Tech Specs

Generally, this type of amp is relatively simple to repair if you're capable of replacing the blown parts. If you can find the web site for Nitro, you may be able to get a schematic. I couldn't find their site.

What troubleshooting have you done?

What parts are blown?

If you need help troubleshooting, I'd need a photo of the inside of the amplifier.

Channels Not Playing

i had afriend who is atechnician. his boss amplifier stopped working on one channel,so what he did is openened the amp, tested the mosfet transistors and it showed signs of failure.then he went shopping for same type of mosfet transistors and with no luck in buying the right type, he put the amp away for acouple of weeks. then one day he hooked it up and strangely it worked again. he told me that while it was hooked up itwent into protection mode and for some reason it worked later. so i would not open it because of static discharge i would disconnect the amp for maybe acouple of weeks then hook it back up.... its worth a try & good luck
