Did not detect the additional sata hard disk?

Have you tried connecting the SATA hard-drive to a different computer, just to prove that it is not a "dud" ?

Is the SATA hard-drive getting power?
(It should warm-up a bit, and you make feel it vibrate as it spins.)

Have you tried a different SATA cable between the hard-drive and the SATA connector on the motherboard?

Check the BIOS settings, to be sure that detection of SATA drives is "enabled".

Did not see second sata harddisk

To know if your Hardisk is detected follow this steps:

In Windows XP

1. Open Control Panel
2. Go to Administrative Tools
3. Open Computer Management
4. Double Click Storage
5. Open Disk Management

All the list of Hardisk is here, your hardisk is not formatted that's why, so you have to proceed to format just right click that unformatted hardisk and choose format, specify the label for your hardisk or simply leave it blank.

I have a new 8ogb sataII Exelstor hardisk which i

Windows XP does -not- have native SATA support and therefore will not recognize a SATA drive without first installing 3rd party drivers.
To go around this problem without installing drivers check your BIOS. There might be something in there where the bios will emulate an IDE controller.

If not, you'll need a floppy and the sata drivers. A flash drive will also do if the motherboard bios supports legacy USB. To find the drivers, simply go to the motherboards manufacturers website.

Formating hardisk with sata connection

1) Be sure that your motherboard support SATA - See Bios

2) Using the Win XP installation CD you can format the drive. If you cannot load windows during the installation hit F6 to charge the SATA drivers.

If your sata drive is working like a second disk, you can format it directly from windows.
Start>> Control Panel >> Admistrative tools >> Computer Management

Or using any partition tools...

External Segate 200 GB SATA Hardisk (USB 2.0 connection to PC)

I appears the volume may have been corrupted. YOu should run data recovery on the drive if you need any of the content. If not reformatting the drive, should restore it. If the contents are not important, or you have it backed up, go ahead and connect it to the MACINTOSH and format it for MS-DOS.

Unless it is physically damaged ( clicking, beeping, knocking ) it shoud be usable.

Hope this helps.
