Question about ASUS MyPal A639 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Won't turn off/Stays on Startup Screen

My Asus MyPal A639 stays on a blue screen that says Asus Heart of Technology. It does not turn off, it does not reset. I have tried resetting it, holding it down for longer time as well. I've tried removing the battery and putting it back in. I've tried charging it. Hold is not on either.

It seems no matter what I do it will not go past this screen.

I can say that I had used it on a trip right before this problem had happened and the GPS system started going a little funny, like it was taking me down streets that it shouldn't have (While still heading towards the destination, just taking roads it should not have taken)... Although, I am not sure if this is relevant or not, figured I'd mention it.

Yes, I have the same situation. It came after an unsuccessful sync and turn off. It doesn't start again, does not go through the "ASUS" start screen.
Anyone any idea? (I have tried every combination of battery/power button/reset button...)
    Thanks for any info!

Have the same problem for the second time; firsttime solved under warranty-services by Asus. How can we solve this ourselves?

  • graemeb1 Nov 08, 2008

This is the second time I have a total freeze on the heart of technology blue screen. No response to any buttons, cannot turn off. Hold button is not on. The first time took 5 weeks at the ASUS repair shop, and it will probably have to go there AGAIN. The freeze might be related to using the GPS function with Co-pilot 6 software - not certain though

    Hi,

I have this problem on my A639 as well, for the second time.

The first time it occured, I did not manage to fix it, and my warranty period was over so I had to buy a new PDA (same one).

Now it occurs again, and I will use the warranty... But I would really like to be able to fix it myself. Does anyone knows how to fix this ?

    Alex.

If its in the waranty period, definiety get it repaird b4 that expires, other than that,
did u drop it or take it beyond it's thermal limits?(like snow or smwhere cold) coz that would probably mess up the device.
my best advice for faulty A639's, put a bit of paper in the batter compartment between the battery and the cover, if it get passt that point, when u do that, it's a lose connecting between your battery and the device(happend to mine, after the warenty expired). I also have a spare battery that carries a bit more of a kick than the original one and tends to jolt it out of most of the faults fot around half a week, until the gets used to it or smthing (I sware that its alive =P, i mean, it always knows what song i want to listn to when it's on shuffle on media player, but my laptop has no clue. maby thats jus me=D)
nyway, hope that helps

Frozen screen

I had this problem on my A639 after going on holiday with it (I think the x-ray scanners did something to it). It started switching itself off more and more as the days went by until one day it went off and never came back. After resetting it, it just stayed on the blue "ASUS Rock Solid Heart Touching" screen. I was worried that it was totally broken and I'd have to pay to get it repaired, but after searching the internet it turned out all I needed to do was re-flash the ROM with a fresh copy (I used the latest ROM). It now works fine and no longer turns itself off... didn't cost me ANYTHING to fix :-)

New laptop wont start stuck on asus screen

This just happened to me today. My notebook is the same model. I was logging into a game and all of a sudden it blue screened. After that every time I restarted it would go to the Asus logo screen (I think that's what is referred to as the splash screen but could be wrong). No keys worked. Nothing I could do. So, I called Asus and they had me unplug the power, take out the battery and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Now it's fine. Apparently it just needed to be reset. I hope that helps. Good luck.

Hardware buttons does not work anymore...

My Asus A639 is also frozen on the blue Heart of Technology screen AGAIN. None of the buttons work, hold button is not active, cannot switch it off. The first time it was fixed by Asus under warrantee - took 5 weeks. The freeze might be related to using GPS software Copilot V6 - not certain.

Help please - how do I do a total reset?

ASUS MyPal A632 will not boot up.

Happened the same for me.
After lots of digging & googling I found the simple solution:

At the back of the PDA there is a "Hold" button. Change the position back and it starts to respond as usual before.
