Re: can not put the head on so the belt will stay on
Make sure the belt is position in the middle before u put the head on . hook the belt on by turning it to red. its easier when u put the height adjuster all the way up. slid the head straight onto the front. and lift the back so it goes over the ledge. and then pull the lock down to secure. amke sure the safetly switch is activated. then turn it to green. when u turn the kirby on if the green light is greena dn not off or dim or on and off. then u put the belt on correctly. if green light is not on . try again .. it comes with practise. once u get the hang of it .. its pretty easy

I have a kirby Diamond series and the 'green light' on the upper right side (while standing behind the vaccum) does not come on and when it doesn't come on I noticed that it does not sound as though it is picking up at all. I have changed the belt, placed a new bag in it and made sure that there is no clogs. What else could it be?

B4 you put the new belt on the Kirby check to see if the brushroll spins freely, also to see if the brushroll is free from the thread and hair buildup, if that is free – then slide the new belt onto the brushroll and the re-insert the brushroll with the screw head on each side facing the carpet and lock down the bottom plate, then use the Kirby spoon/ hook to dial the belt on to the fan pulley and dial the spoon/hook clockwise until the belt is on the fan pulley and the place the bell housing on the Kirby and then lock down the lever so that it is hooked up and ready to go, plug it in and turn it on. How to use my Kirby carpet cleaner?
Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. This is kind of a general question and I will try to explain the best I can. Most Kirby’s have a vacuum head and sometimes a shampoo head, the vacuum head is removable on most Kirby’s and the vac head comes off the front for a brushroll and belt change. When you vacuum and you go to adjust the vacuum head, raise the height adjustment all the way u to the top with your foot, then listen to the tone change, @ first you will hear air pulling thru and the brush has not hit the carpet as of yet, that is the sound the you are listening for, once the brushroll hits the carpet – there is a definite tone change and that is when you have it adjusted correctly, try to vacuum with it set that way, if it is picking up well – you’re OK, if not adjust if down one more click. Also remember to do a belt change every 4 to 6 months for good cleaning, change the bag more often because it will pup better with a new belt and bag, or if you don’t have a paper bag, take and scrape the inside of the cloth bag with the scraper provided in the small zipper section. Please refer to the owner’s manual or trouble shooting guide or to your local vacuum cleaner dealer or in the yellow pages, also you can use the Kirby factory or website listed below: http://kirby.comContact Us by Phone United States and Canada 1-800-494-8586 Between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST Monday thru Friday Thanks,Don – The Vac Man Go Ahead.Use Us.
I can't get the new belt on my Kirby I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The Kirby Vacuum has a removable head and bottom plate and the belt is hooked on by a hook inside of the Kirby head of the vacuum. You need to slide the belt onto the Kirby brushroll to the center and the dial in front of the Kirby vacuum does rotate to the right – so @ this time you would dial the belt clockwise and the inside hook will pickup the inside belt and continue turning the dial / hook until it stops – look inside to see if the belt in on the fan shaft – if it is then install the bottom plate back on the vacuum and then install the head back on the Kirby or if it is newer the head is already on the motor assm.
Plug in the vacuum and if the belt stays on and the brushroll is tuning you have done it right – if not reverse the situation, unplug the vacuum and start over with the procedure. The hook will dial the belt onto the fan pulley if done correctly. Example: try to turn the dial on the front of the vacuum to see hoe it works and the way the dial will turn so that the procedure will be easier. The dial does turn hard when dialing the belt onto the pulley. http://kirby.comContact Us by Phone United States and Canada: 1-800-494-8586 Between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (EST) Monday - Friday
I have tried to get a parts breakdown for your vacuum cleaner with no success. The way that then washers should go is the flat smotth metal washer on the inside followed by the fibre washer and the wavy washer on the outside. The waves are used to bite into the plastic so it cannot work loose.
1. Raise the vacuum head all of the way up.
2. Remove the vacuum head by removing the belt and releasing it.
3. Place the shampooer head on the vacuum by securing the clamp and them put the belt on
4. Take the bag off of the vacuum by twisting at the base just slightly outward and lifting upwards and unclamp it from the handle
5. Put water and cleaner into the water resevoir.
6. Put the reservoir on to the kirby where the bag was by holding it parallel to the vacuum then using both hands, twist it outward slowly until it goes down onto the unit then twist back to parallel position.
7. Put the coil looking piece on the shampooer head on top where the hole is...it will only fit one way successfully.
8. Put the other end on the under side of the water reservoir.
9. Lower the shampooer head all of the way down on the carpet just like you would the vacuum head
10. Turn on the vacuum and reach down and turn the knob at the top of the reservoir, this will begin putting cleaner (tons of foam) onto the carpet. Just work in 3' x 3' sections, turning off the foam intermitently until you are finished.
I hope this helps.
