    This TV has never been moved and has never had this problem before. There is no sunshine in this room.

Check the locations of your tv, any magnetic object may affect the image quality. or any direct sunlight may also affect too..

Its theproblem of convergence ic

Posted on Aug 31, 2008

  • tech expert12 Aug 31, 2008

    the convergence ic is located on the main power supply board .the convergence --ic-- is the part which controls the picture quality of the tv.and for your problem what you described if the problem is same as you said.then this --ic-- have to be replaced.you your self cannot replace without ant technical knowledge.as if done some thing wrong in connection the power supply board could be short because of one simple mistake.just call the technician for replacing it.and it will be ok.

    thanks

C4075 burnout.

Good day, javiquez;
The cap C407S that you burnt in the TV is in the circuit that feeds the G-2 to the CRT's. So, it makes sense that your picture quality has suffered. Here is the information on the failed cap and other part I would recommend changeing:
1. C407S; part number 2201-000406; description; c-ceramic,disc; 270 pf, 10%, y5p, 2 kv (2000 volts).
2. D402; part number 0402-00586; description; APIH, 2 kv, 1 a (amp).
Hope this was helpful, good luck, big IRISH.

Screen replacement

I replaced the screen on my 62 inch projection TV for about $50 and the the picture quality is good! Have a sheet of plexiglass cut to the EXACT size needed. BEFORE installation it MUST be frosted on both sides by either a fine particle sandblaster or by sanding it VERTICALLY on BOTH sides with a power sander and a fine grade paper.
If this is only an OUTER protective screen and the image is projected on the inner screen then DO NOT frost the replacement screen, just install it.

PT-47WX, Blue streaks across the screen?

It is not a bulb. It is a picture tube. If there are thin blue lines across the entire screen, not just the edges, and the picture itself looks too blue, it means that the blue picture tube is being driven too hard. This could be because the blue screen voltage is too high, the boost voltage on the blue picture tube is too low, or the video output is leaky or shorted. If the picture has what looks like blue arcs and double images on one or more sides of the picture, it means that one of your convergence IC's has burned out and needs to be replaced. These are things that should be tested and serviced by a qualified tech, so allow an experienced tech to handle it for you.

Picture separated on 1/2 of screen

This sounds like a convergence problem. This is a common problem that is usually fixed 98% of the time by re-placing the STK392-020 ic or STK392-110, and check the fuse devices on the covergence PCB. I'm sure the actual parts numbers depend on the peticular brand. Good Luck!
