Is the vehicle out of gear and in the park position? if so try and turn the steering wheel left and right at the same time turn the key back and forth slowly. repeat this proccess several times. also move your shifter back and forth several times slowly. if this doesn't solve the problem, there is a pin inside the steer wheel coloumn that is the problem. you will have to remove the steering wheel column covers to solve this. good luck ....please rate this.......thanks

Try puffing some powder graphite into the key slot and inserting and removing the key several times. The tumbler pins get dry and jam in the holes and will not move so the graphite is the recommended lubricant for locks. Be careful as it leaves black residue that has to be cleaned with a wet clean rag.

Key wont move ignition switch past ACC to start position. Purchased new key and still doesn't work.

The actual ignition switch, the electrical switch which the key cylinder turns, is probably bad. It is made of plastic and does eventually wear out. Have that part checked out.

Ignition is stuck in run position

does your key stays in the ignition position? or can you turn it back to acc or lock? it might be a stuck ignition switch mechanism inside or a shorted circuit that latches the ignition...have it checked or you can try to open it the switch yourself..but with caution if this is your first time. Pls give me a feedback. thanks!

I have a 1991 Honda and the key will not turn in the ignition

you need to replace the ignition switch- most cars run around $25. they are fairly simple to replace.
remove the shroud that covers the steering wheel, turn the key to ACC, using a small flat head screwdriver, press the release button- usually located on the top right side, the switch should pull out with no problem. make sure the new switch is turned to ACC, and slide it in the slot, make sure the new switch works before you reassemble everything.
