Canon G9 digital camera

Have a problem with my Canon G9 in that the picture I actually take seems to be seconds later than what I had focused on and believed I had taken. People can have turned slightly especially children or their smile is gone etc.
Is this a setting or is there anything I can do . Thanks Rose

There are two stages to the shutter release. The first stage is the focus stage pressed half way down and the second stage is the actual shutter release. Always press the shutter half way to get the camera focused first then press all the way down when the camera is ready to take the shot. Check to see how the settings are with regard to how it focuses (9-point, face recognition, etc). When the camera focuses you should get a green box or multiple green boxes depending on your settings. That tells you the camera is ready to take the picture. Pressing the shutter all the way down at once from the beginning will cause the pause you describe since the camera has to first focus then shoot the picture. Depending on the subject or subjects the camera may take a second or two longer to focus. With good lighting my G9 focuses pretty fast. Hope this helped.

The only place I know of that does outstanding work on the Powershots and is actually reasonably priced is www.camerasandparts.com They exclusively service the Canon Powershots only and their work is outstanding! If you get their service package for the G9 image problem it fixes the spot in the image problem. They only charge $89 for everything, parts, labor and shipping back included and they clean and service up the camera at the time of the repair. They're the place for help with these Canons, good luck with the problem.

G9 out of focus

Sounds like it needs to be serviced. You might want to try go to this site and emailing them first for help with it: www.camerasandparts.com They just work on the Canon Powershots and nothing else, they do excellent work on these cameras and for much less than many shops. That's where a lot of people go for help with these Canons. Good luck with the problem.

My canon G9 does not seem to give good focusing results. Pictures seem slightly out of focus specially with flash on Auto

Your autofocus may need to be re calibrated-- this is not something you can do on your own, but it is something that could be done at a local camera repair shop. Take it in and see if they would be able to adjust it or give you an estimate.

Can I export photos from iPhoto back into the Canon G9 PowerShot?

No, you can't.
You only can transfer the pictures back to the camera if the pictures were taken by the same model cameras, plus the pictures were not modified.
