Hello:
Start the computer.
At the screen press F8 or find the screen to go to SAFE Boot mode. If you can get the computer to boot to safe mode, you can then fix the problem.

What probably happened is that the file for the sleep cache has become corrupted.
Search the net for other helps along this line.
Go slowly and find the right solution.
You can lose your data, if this is not done right.
thanks,

WHY DO MY COMPUTER STARTS WITH TWO STEP?

Sounds like it is in sleep mode at startup. On some compaq, hp, and emachines the power button also serves as a sleep button. If you touch it, they go to sleep, hold it down at least 4 seconds, they shut off. If it was shut off this way that could happen. Also look in display properties under sreenssaver/power options to find the timeout on going to sleep, hibernate, password on waking up, using the tabs,(xp), or categories on the left (vista, 7, 8) to find these features. Also check under power schemes, advanced, and UPS to select timeout features and password on waking up. If it was touched to sleep, touching it should wake it up and allow it to be shutdown properly. On the next startup it should be normal.

Dnt have enough ram to install internet. how do i update my bios so new ram will work on emachines 400i3.

I did a little research on this model, and sadly it may be time to put it to pasture. It uses Win 98 with a 4GB drive. This tells me it just can't handle today's media rich internet. Let alone finding a BIOS upgrade.

Power button blinks, nothing powers on

A blinking power button generally means the computer is in sleep, hibernation type mode. If pressing keys or moving mouse does not wake the computer, PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON IN FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. This will force the computer to shut off. Then press the button again and the computer should start up and go through the "restarting windows" routine. If your computer continually will not wake up from sleep, disable these modes in the Power settings of control panel. If you don't know how, post question stating operating system and someone will be able to give instructions, or you could just "google" for them.

I don't know if you already fixed your problem, but I just figured out something that worked for me.

I had the same problem, and I used a System Reset to fix it. Here's how you do it:

Press Transpose/Function
Press down until you see Init
Press right until you see InitSys
Press yes twice
Wait until it's ready
Fixed! :)

Do a Google search for " emachine t5224 manual", and get one. The manual should contain the wiring diagram showing how all components and cables are connected to the motherboard.

Help! Computer will not boot-up to bios check,

I would look for the CMOS reset jumper on the motherboard, if there is one, and while PC is off take of the jumper, then put it back in place. But the more easier option is to just simply remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard, unplug PC completely first, leave it out for a few seconds, then replace it. If that works, you may come across some operating system start options to start the os, depending of what version you have make sure you select the Delete sleep mode data/hibernation data(something along those line), and start OS normally. By the looks of it you've tried everything possible, but last resort would be to try the resetting CMOS/removing CMOS battery. If all fails, try testing using a different power supply.

When you start up your computer - on most computers if you press the delete button you will enter the bios - from there find the screen that will put your system to sleep when you power down your computer - this will power down your monitor as well.

My hard drive is not working!!!!

You can access your HDD from the old computer but cannot boot your HDD from that old computer. I think you down load a file with virus, maybe your computer was infected with virus coming from that crack. Means you have to re-install your computer.

Ok, First remove the memory you install in. Then take of cmos battery for a couple of minutes. Then replace it.memory too. Make sure you do not power cable on for computer.
Listen this: turn off monitor. turn off desktop and remove all power cables from outlet. First connected monitor cable to computer then plug it to outlet. then connected desktop and turn on. when computer powers on press and hold F8 see if you can see safe mode. Then as me again.
