Hello:
Start the computer.
At the screen press F8 or find the screen to go to SAFE Boot mode. If you can get the computer to boot to safe mode, you can then fix the problem.

What probably happened is that the file for the sleep cache has become corrupted.
Search the net for other helps along this line.
Go slowly and find the right solution.
You can lose your data, if this is not done right.
thanks,

I just added a LCD monitor to my eMachines ET1331G desktop computer. Everything worked fine until I left it on for a day. The computer went into sleep mode and now I can't get it to wake up. I've trie

You should be able to just press the main system unit power button to wake up your 'sleeping' computer which will then resume your Windows desktop and bring you back to the Login panel if you have a password set for your account.

Power button blinks, nothing powers on

A blinking power button generally means the computer is in sleep, hibernation type mode. If pressing keys or moving mouse does not wake the computer, PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON IN FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. This will force the computer to shut off. Then press the button again and the computer should start up and go through the "restarting windows" routine. If your computer continually will not wake up from sleep, disable these modes in the Power settings of control panel. If you don't know how, post question stating operating system and someone will be able to give instructions, or you could just "google" for them.

I have an emcahine T5224 it was given to me ive tried fixing it and determined its not the HDD because it loads the OS on my other computer and works just fine but for some reason it stops and says there...

Hi,

You stated that it loads that OS on the other computer. Is this by taking out the hard drive and putting into another PC? If it is, then I would have thought there is h/w issue elsewhere in your PC...

Usually if you have a message saying that it could not load windows properly, it is an OS issue which I would recommend you fix by using your emachines recovery disks.

Hope that helps

Emachine sleep mode

Try going into your cmos settings at system boot (usually hitting delete or F keys, funtion keys as your computer first turns on). Check to to see the boot sequence and look for sleep mode settings. If there isnt an option there, boot your system in safe mode and check through your windows settings for sleep mode settings.

Will not turn on

Try the following:

Check that power supply is plugged in to a live source.

Certain models had an additional power switch on the power supply itself. This would be located to the rear of the computer within 3-4 inches of where the power cord plugs in. Make sure it's on.

Press the power button on the front panel.

Press the space bar. The computer may be in sleep mode..

Gateway desktops usually have a small 'reset' button on the front panel. Press it.

If it still doesn't respond, I'd need to know a little more info before moving forward.
  • Are there any lights lit? (K/B, front panel)
  • Can you hear a fan?
  • Does the monitor turn on?
  • What (if anything) has changed since it worked last?
  • What was the last thing you were working on?
  • What model is it?
  • What steps have you taken so far?
