Some USB ports are specifically configured to the printer when it was installed in that USB port. When you try to print, in the Print menu, make sure that Name of the printer is your specified printer. you may have installed other printers before.

I am trying to conect a USB Cannon printer and my system will not recognise the printer is connected - how do I fix this please.

You need to install the software for the printer before you plug it in to the computer. If you dont have the disk for the printer you can download the software from Canon support at this website http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support

Hope this answers all your questions

Setting up anything USB & "Device not recognised"

I see a lot of people are having problems with USB. USB is a wonderful standard. However it does have a habit of getting sorta tangled up, generally in the Windows hives/registry.
I am going to show you how to go about installing ANYTHING USB.
First: NEVER EVER, plug in ya USB device before ya install the Software and Drivers.
Second: After installing software & drivers etc. REBOOT.
Third: NOW, plug in your USB device, it should be detected and automatically install the drivers, OR it will ask where they are, navigate to where the files are kept, and they will install, after it has finished, REBOOT.
NOW you should be all good, and ready to use.
Now if you get at any time, "Device not recognised" first, try another USB port, if that doesn't work, & ya keep getting the message .
One thing to try is to go to device manager and TOTALLY remove/uninstall & remove drivers, from ALL USB devices from device manager. then REBOOT.
When windows restarts it will re-install the USB "Layer" all again, all new. Now you can start all again as above.

I need to connect to the HP printer Photosmart 77000 series. I have two rears warranty.

All of the PhotoSmart 7700 series printers connect via USB. You simply need a standard USB cable (which likely came with the printer) and an available USB port on your computer.
The drivers and software for all of the 7700 series printers can be found here: http://goo.gl/WP0WX. Install the drivers and software before attaching the printer to your computer for the best results.

CAN NOT CONNECT TO MY PRINTER TO PRINT DOCUMENTS

First check if the printer is already installed into your computer.
Start>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes, then check if the printer was installed. e.g. Canon Pixma MG5270

If not please do the following:
1. Check if your printer is connected to the computer via USB, and check if you properly plugged in the power supply.
2. Look for the software or installer of your printer. Insert the CD to the CD-Rom and Install it until the setup completes.
3. After the installation of the printer, click Start>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes, then check if the printer was installed. e.g. Canon Pixma MG5270
4. Then try to print out some document. Just click File>Print and choose your Printer e.g.(Canon Pixma MG5270) then click the O.K. button to print the document.

How to network hp laserjet4 plus with dlink 628

Go to HP.com for the exact directions, for free. But in essence, you do NOT plug and play, but rather follow the install directions exactly.
Usually you are directed to eventually hook up the printer via USB, and the software makes the printer connect when you hook up the network cable.
ALL computers need to run the install after that "host like" process. Remember to remove usb connection when you are done.

Then install and navigate to the newtork location of the printer, on each machine in your network.

How do I connect the scanner to the computer. I have plugged in to a USB port. and the scanner is ready to use. But nothing shows on the screen. The scanner is used to send negatives to the computer.

did you install the software before you plugged the scanner into the computer? In most cases you will need to install the software onto the computer and then once it is installed the software will inform you to attach the scanner via the usb port.

Having trouble installing HP Photosmart All in One Printer. Model C5280. Near the end of installation it ask's for printer to be connected via USB cable. Msg comes up on screen 'USB Device not recognized'...

Dear Sir:

It seems that the printer has gone bad because when you get this message 'USB Device not recognized' it means that the usb device connected to the computer is defective however I would suggest you to connect this device to another computer and if you are getting the same error with the other computer.

Please contact hp support they should be able to help you with this.

Please feel free to get back to me If you need any further assistance.
Regards
Mohammed.

The computer can not communicate to the printer after installing the software.

Did you install the software first, and then plug in the printer? Or did you connect the printer and then install the software? For most newer USB printers, you need to install the software before you plug the printer into the computer, then at a certain point, their software (not Windows) tells you when to connect the printer.
