Question about HP Jornada 568 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Updates Hi there, I was using my 568 with it's original Activesync 3.5 with Windows XP and haven't done any updates. Since I bought it from someone, I checked settings/system/display to see if the serial # appeared under the backlight lightbulb icon. It didn't, so I can only assume the guy I bought it from never updated it either. I now have a new computer and was in the process of loading the most recent versions various software programs. Saw there was an ActiveSync 3.8 available. Went to the HP website and saw there were lots of firmware updates and Pocket PC 2002 updates. I really tried to follow the instructions, but discovered links with no info, downloads with file extensions that look like they are for various languages, yet there is nothing in their descriptions that say that. I also saw an earlier post here where someone said there aren't any updates for the 568. Huh? What do I need to do to get all the updates (and is there a specific order? i.e. firmware before Pocket PC 2002?) Or can I just sync it as is with 3.8 with the new computer?

Re: Updates

I have been using ActiveSync for several years now. From time to time I upgrade to the latest available version that I can find on the Microsoft website. I have been using version 3.8 for several months without major problems. So I can recommend for you to install version 3.8.

Updating my tmobile dash

To update your T-Mobile Dash Smartphone, please follow this steps,

1. Download the new software to your PC. You will be instructed to enter the 15-digit IMEI number for your device to access the download.

2. Ensure ActiveSync 4.5 for computers using Windows XP or earlier or use Windows Mobile Device Center for computers using Vista and Windows 7 is installed on your PC. If you have not installed ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center, you can install it from your Getting Started CD or download it from the Microsoft website.

3. Connect your Dash to your computer using the USB Sync Cable that came with the phone.

4. Establish a connection. You will know this is complete when the ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center icon in your PC taskbar is lit green and the status is "Connected".

5. Ensure that your T-Mobile Dash has a battery charge that is greater than 50% (two bars).

6. Remove your MicroSD card from the device if you have one inserted. Do not reinsert the SD card until after the software installation process is complete and the phone is ready to use.

Hi. You can download ActiveSync (for XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (for Vista) from this link: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-synch.mspx). Then, you find the specific updates and apllications for your Touch Diamond here: (http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=133&act=sd&cat=all). Hope this helps.

Uninstall ActiveSync.

Do not connect the phone to the PC via USB yet.

Just download ActiveSync form the Microsoft DL page and install.
This won't require flash at all.

ActiveSync not syncing

Typically this means you have a firewall enabled. If your using Windows XP SP2, make sure that ActiveSync is in the exceptions tab of the Windows Firewall (control panel->windows firewall->exceptions). If your using Norton Internet Security, right click on the globe icon in the system tray (near the clock on your task bar) and choose disable, the try syncronizing again. If your using McAffee Antivirus or the McAffee Firewall, you could try McAffee for help configuring that OR uninstall McAffee, uninstall ActiveSync the reinstall ActiveSync then install McAffee and do all of your Antivirus and Firewall definitions updates.

Need help on connecting E-125

I doubt it... I mean it is unlikely there is any incompatibility there. Go to your device manager and make sure that your USB ports are installed and configured properly for your USB cradel.
