Sounds like a contactor that has welded itself closed. Look and see if there is a seperate contactor for the fan isolated from the compressor. But be very careful this area of the unit contains high voltage.

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

When I turn my window unit on, it will cool for 2 - 3 minutes. Then the fan turns off and the compressor continues to run for maybe another 90 seconds, then shuts off.

Make sure the filters are clean. Check what mode it is on as well. On heating, it is normal for there to be a delay before the unit starts up and then "run on" when turned off. Also check what temperature is set on it. If the temp is too high, the machine will cycle on and off as it thinks it has already reached the temp you want.

I've got a Rittling water source heat pump chassis unit in an apartment, cooling tower, with a Honeywell focuspro 6000 Tstat. The fan turns off when set to On and Cool after reaching set point. The...

you would need to make sure that the "G" wire is connected between the controller and the unit. this is the wire that will run the fan continually even when it isnt cooling. the controller sounds like it is programmed fine if it has an ON option in the fan section of the Pro6000 it is set fine it just needs the G wire run

I have a franklin chef fim400 ice maker that cycles but will not make ice. What could be wrong?

you may want to add shader valves using saddle type that just compresses on and check charge if low then find and repair leak and recharge but be careful these type ice machines are very touchy on charge so go slow

My fan runs continually, even when I switch the thermostat to 'off' between the heat and cold setting.

There would be a relay,or transistor malfunction in the unit that controls the fan motor.

I have a DDR7009EE and the fan runs continuously even when the humidity in the room is below the setting on the machine. Shouldn't the fan stop when the desired humidity is reached?

Lyle, your particular model is designed for the fan to function constantly. However, the fan running doesn't mean the compressor is always running. The reason the unit was designed this way, is for the air to be continually moving, and when the humidity sensor picks up a rise in the humidity level (above where you have it set) the compressor will turn ON and extract that humidity.

Your unit is working as it should. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Honeywell Chronotherm iv fan keeps running even when heat and cool turned off. How do I turn it off?

Assuming you have the fan switch of your thermostat in AUTO, it sounds like a stuck Fan Relay. If the fan relay is stuck, your fan will continue to run as long as there is line voltage being fed to your unit. This relay could be an independent component or it could be an integral part of your control board. Have an experienced, qualified service technician check it out.

I have a Kenmore side by side refrigerator freezer and the fan will not stop running. The refrigerator is cooling fine but the fan is running continuously.

The fan must run otherwise the temp. cant be correctly distributed. If temp. is correct, leave alone. If temp. to cold, turn it down untill correct. Fan will very possibly switch off then.

LG LD65E humidity variance

Is the compressor running or is it just the fan? If its just the fan it is because it is cycling the air and it uses that air flow to check the humidity in the air. If the fan runs non-stop and the compressor does not turn on or the fan does not shut off there is a problem with this unit and you will need to replace it. Since it is brand new you should still be able to return it to the store.
