Are you using a POP3 account or a Exchange account via a VPN,

Sometimes the Number one cause for emails not working is a Firewall issue Make sure it isnt Blocking either the Program you are using I.e Outlook, or blocking SMTP.

That shouldnt be a problem unless there is specified ports because to be opened because router only has port open 80 by default that is the internet itself try uploading latest firmware on router should solve any problem.

Wireless connection keeps dropping

Ok, START>>RUN>>services.msc (enter) When the windows comes up, scroll down to DHCP, set to OFF & Disable. Then find, Zero Configuration, and do the same, back out, and reboot. See if this helps any.

Using DI-524, can't find the wireless network

Hi,

Have you properly configured the web based Wireless configurations of the router? Also check WLAN IP configuration of your laptop. Configure WLAN IP configuration to DHCP and try again.

DL-524 send mail

Hi,

Are normal network services available to you:-

1) can you ping a server on the Internet?
2) can you browse the Internet?
3) Is the problem only email, if so do you know which mail server you are trying to access?

You shouldnt need to open up any rules in the firewall for SMTP, unless you are hosting a mail server. When you request mail from behind the firewall, most firewalls allow through all traffic from the inside network to the Internet. therefore, if you can see the Internet this is usually a good indication that theres no internal filtering.

all your mail client does is create a connection to port 25 on the SMTP server. You can replicate this by doing :-

telnet <MAIL SERVER ADDRESS> 25

you should get a banner or something up if you can see it. I dont think its a router problem if all other services are woking ok. If you get a banner from the above command, then its definately not a router problem.

Outgoing emails

Hi,

Were you able to send emails (in Outlook) prior to the installation of the D-Link AirPlus DI-524?

If yes, this error message tells us that the remote server has rejected your email/message due to your host not being on a list of servers able to send the destination server mail. You will need to contact the remote server administrator for assistance with this issue. This error has nothing to do with D-Link, it is a problem with the remote host.

If no likewise, then your ISP has blocked port 25 (which is being used by Outlook for outgoing). You need to get in touch with your ISP and verify if this is the case or if you need to switch to port 26 or 587 or something else.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Connecting a DI-524 to a DI-604

This shouldn't really be any problem simply use a short "Uplink" ethernet cable to join the routers thru the uplink port, or any port really, and that way ya should be able to wifi and access the net, set ya router that connects to the net for DCHP and disable that setting in the Wifi router and ya should be good to go?

Problems with speed and local ftp on D-LINK DI-524

you may have to open the port that opensuse uses in your routers settings, this will probably be called something similair to virtual servers or within the firewall settings, you will have to enter the port number that the programme uses and allocate the number against the ip address of the pc that is connecting. The fact that you have 3 cards in one pc may confuse matters for the router,so probably dissabling two of them may prove to be another solution to the problem
