Hi!

The Authenticating status means that you entered an icorrect network key. The 54Mbps is the wireless speed that your card is getting from the wireless router. That means that your router can only broadcast a maximum speed of 54Mbps. This is usual for Wireless-G routers. Although your card is capable of receiving 108 Mbps, the router doesn't have that speed. The 108 Mbps can be attained if you have a Wireless-N router. To resolve the Authenticating error, try to reconnect to your wireless network using the TP-Link utility. Make sure to enter the corrent wireless network key also called as passphrase. If you are using WEP as security mode, follow the steps below

For Win XP
1. Go to Control Panel, Network Connections
2. Right click on Wireless Network Connection > Properties
3. Click on the Wireless Network Tab and at the bottom you'll see Preferred Networks
4. Highlight the name of your network and click on Properties. Click on Authentication tab then uncheck the option that says "Enable IEEE" something like that. Click OK all the way out
5: Check if that fixes it. You may also try to reboot the computer after that.

One more thing is you can try to change the Channel of your router. You can do that by connecting your laptop hardwired to your router then access router web interface

Network status is "Limited connectivity

Sometime the wireless card does not connect to the wireless router properly and you will get this error message. To fix, right click on the wireless icon on the Task Bar and then click Repair and the wireless router will issue a new IP address to the wireless card in your computer/laptop.

I suggest that you have Windows 7. If I'm wrong post me back to send you the right steps. Let's go and click on "start" - "control panel" - "view network status and task" - on the right side click on "change adapter settings".
For the Wi - Fi connection right click on "Wireless Network Connection" - "properties" - choose "Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IP) " - "properties". In case of not at automatically settings, click on both buttons to "obtain an IP address automatically" and "obtain DNS server address automatically".
Your screen has to be like this:

Click on OK at both windows and check for the results.

Cannot access my network configuration page when i type in 192.168.0.1 can you please help fix this thank you.

Are you sure that is the correct ip address?

What make and model is your router? That ip address is used by Netgear.

Please respond with a comment here and I can help.

Alternatively, connect to your router with a network cable and you can then access the config page without using wireless.

Wireless internet will not connect using WRT54G

Hi I am Vortash .. you will have to check your status in the bottom right of your screen ( usually two monitors with a flashing screen ) and if there is a red line through either then your not connected to your router as you thought . Double click on the monitor icons and then click network , you will see your Computer name your network icon then the Internet with a green line running through all ( if it is connected ) and the internet .On the left you will see manage wireless networks .click on that a screen will open and in the top right is a question mark click on that and a small window will appear click on click to open network there you will see your available wireless networks if the router is transmitting it will be there ... any queries and the last window you opened was the help window follow the instructions on there and you should get online ... You may have to open the directory of your router and reset it if it hasn't already .. that will be in the instructions in the router manual .. hope this helps regards Vortash

My wireless adaptor can not find my wireless router

Please check tour wireless adapter if its working and properly installed in your computer. Here's how to do it;

Checking Device Status on the Device Manager

For Windows 2000 or XP:

1. Click on Start, go to Settings and then Control Panel.
2. Click on System, go to Hardware and then Device Manager.
3. Click the (+) sign on Network Adapters and select the adapter.
4. Double click on it and read the Device Status.

If your wireless adapter is not working and installed properly, you have to re-install the wireless adapter software driver. When the wireless adapter is already properly installed you can follow this steps below;

Enabling Wireless Zero Configuration Utility

1. Please click on Start, Run and type in services.msc and click on OK.
2. Scroll down and look for Wireless Zero Configuration. Right click on it and click on Start.
3. Right click on Wireless Zero Configuration again and click on Properties.
4. Under the General tab, set the Start up Type to Automatic and Service Status to Started. Then, click on Apply and OK.

Connecting Through Wireless Zero Configuration (Windows XP SP1 and SP2)

For Windows XP Service Pack 1:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then, click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. Please delete all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon again and click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Please select your network and click on Connect. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Please type in the Network Key and then confirm it.
6. Make sure not to enable IEEE and then click on Connect.

For Windows XP Service Pack 2:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then, click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Change Advanced Settings.
3. Click on the Wireless Networks tab remove all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon then click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Select your network and click on Connect.
6. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Type in the network key and confirm it. Then click on Connect.

Note: You may use the wireless utility of your wireless adapter in connecting to the wireless network but you need to clear "Use Windows to configure my wireless networks" on the Wireless Networks tab.

Connecting to a Wireless Network on Windows Vista:

a. Click Start then select Connect To.
b. Connect to a network window will show up.
c. Select your wireless network's name or SSID and click Connect.
d. It will ask you for a network key. Type in your wireless network key on the field provided. Then, click on Connect.

No wireless detect connection

Hi
Note all changes to be made from wired computer only . Any computer that is phisically connected to the router.
Open the router setup page by typing in your default gateway address( router address) on the web browser
You can get it by
Start -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig
You will see the router setup page opening up
Check what it says . IF on the top it says Internet Status :: Connected then
1. Under wireless you'll see channell and ssid
2. Change channell to 6 or 11 .That gives you the best wireless signal strength . This is the most probable cause .
If you want you can also change the
3. Check your security key
4. And apply changes
5. Now on your wireless laptop go to Control panel ->Network connections -> wireless network connections -> right click -> deleate preffered networks -> refresh netweork list
6. You will find your network there select and connect.

Works great

If Ip status : says not connected
1. restore factory default
2. reconfigure router
3. reconnect

This shoud help and please let me know .
