Question about Dell E172FP 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

Intermittent Power When I plug in my monitor (without having touched the power button) I get 2 seconds on, then off, then 2 seconds on, then off. The fuse is good and there is a clicking on the power board inside the monitor itself. Anyone have a schematic for this one? It's made by Benq. Have you tried checking with another monitor. Meaning that if the second monitor does not come on then the problem is with your computers mother board. But if the monitor other monitor you check it with comes on then of course it is your monitor.

How do I turn off the Samsung sync-master p2050 monitor?

If it doesn't turn off by holding the power button down for 10 seconds, then it cannot be turned off by the power button alone, like most modern lcd monitors. Most modern monitors goes into standby mode. To completely cut power, you must unplug the power cable.
I've enclosed a link to the install manual for reference.

Monitor intermittent power problems. Horizontal green flickering lines

You have to check the ESR in tha caps in power supply with esr meter.
If you dont have one just replace all capacitors in the power section(there are severals of them)This is the simptom of low esr in the capacitors.
Return the monitor in factory settings.

OSD LOCK

Normally the OSD lock will only be displayed for 5 seconds.
Regardless you should be able to get rid of it by pressing holding the up arrow key for 10 seconds.
If this fails to resolve the issue try this. Disconnect power cord. Now press and hold button 1. Plug the power cord back in. You may have to press the power button while still holding button 1. The OSD lock should clear after that.
Hope this helps.
