Question about RCA RT2300 System

2 Answers

Roars The base roars for about 20 seconds after turning it on. I have the surround sound which has a base to work from because I have a DVD player already in the tv. I bought it at Walmart and have no paperwork to try to return it, I think the speakers work fine, I just want to know if this roar means it is going bad??? Or is something I need to do??? It says it canbuzz if too close to the tv but that isn't the case.

This roar means one of the amp components has gone faulty, often it stays like that for ages and do not get worse.
Sonetimes one day amp final IC or transistor will fail completely and you get no sound.

the buzz is different, it is a continuous humming nois from bad shieldingor interference.
A growing in volume huuummmMMMMM (and sometimes bang) is a defective amp.
Often it stays like that for a long time.

First ensure it is not a disturbance from TV or any nearby device (eg. power adapters).

Generally , if the noise raise up in volume anthen goes it is a faulty amp.

If the problem goes as you whack (gently) or move the unit then it is a bad contact or connector inside.

If you just bought the item I would replace it, even if problem
disappears by moving the device or whacking it, it means the machine
has a fault that can come back in time.

If product is not brand new, but covered with guaranty take in for repairs. If it is less than one moth old warranty will cover the repair or replacement.

If your surround sound receiver unit has rca audio inputs(red/white), you can hook up any brand of DVD player that has rca outputs. You would hook the yellow output from DVD player to yellow input on TV. Hook red/white output from DVD player to red/white input on surround receiver. Hope this helps.

You can try cleaning it with a dvd disk cleaner first. If that dont work by a cheap dvd player and run it to the inputs on the back of the surround player.

Help getting sound from New Sony LCD Television Model XV HTD520 DVD Player with Surround Sound S HTD520

While I could not find it in the manual, I found that you must
go to the menu, open Sound Options and set Speakers to "Fixed".

Note: If you turn off the Surround Sound or DVD player combination you must then go back to the menu and turn the speakers back to Televsion.

How to get sound through speakers with tv and not just dvds

Just wire your TV audio out to one of the receivers (DVD player) audio in and select AUX when you want the TV sound to play through the surround sound. You also might want to turn the volume down or off on your TV to get the full surround sound feeling, but that's your call.
