If the alignment is not done sucessfully then the printer prints a test page every time the printer is turned on, so it is recommended to align the printer and the cartridge.
Try th steps again in the bellow link:

Question re: test page

i have this printer, what you have to do is when you power it up, wait and listen until the printer grabs the paper to do the test print, then quickly press the CANCEL button once, the paper will pass through the printer but not print, then just put the paper back in the feed tray and start your day with a smile. The cancel button is on the left hand side underneath the power button. The printer prints a test page when you change ink cartridge as well by the way.

Dell photo 864

You might need to speak to Dell or a specialist repair shop.

Until then, please, if wasting paper is the 'only' problem why not just start if up with a piece of waste paper in the feed?

Come to that, why not leave it switched on? Of course that will waste a bit of power but that's not likely to cost more than the power or the ink it wastes on testing itself every time it's switched on...

Every time I turn on my printer, a Dell 948, it prints a page

Hi
We have 30+ printers... which we use for testing empty inkjet cartridges prior to refilling with ink. Basically we inject a little Magic Inkjet Flush directly into the dried print head which allows us to unclog them. Then we soak them overnight on Magic Pillows which gives just enough to do a PRINT TEST next day.

As some of our printers always try the alignment test here´s what we do...

1. Pull paper stack slightly away from printer, when it tries to print it thinks it is out of paper and should offer a cancel print option.

2. Alternatively if you print daily? Try leaving your printer power on... Some do alignments every time you power up... so dont switch off (they use very little power in standby.)

3. When exchanging inks like HP immediately switch off printer which cancels the print test. Then just switch on again.

4. Reinserting your printed sheets each time will save paper if not ink.

Good Luck!

Flashing triangular light with the exclamation mark inside it.

Clear the printer queue on the computer (double-click the printer icon in the tray or in the Printers and Faxes folder and cancel all documents listed). Then power off the printer and disconnect the power - remove the paper from the paper tray until you have the printer memory cleared as to not waste paper.

Test paper

Can only think that if the printer has a menu screen there may be an option to turn off that function. If it is only happening when you use it within office software...that the option is there to switch off the function......more often than not that is the case.

My 1310 prints a test page each time I turn it on. I don't need one. The alignment is very good. I don't want to waste paper if possible. I use hp all in one paper to print from my laptop. How do I...

thats not the test page my friend that is the allignment page what you are getting out again n again.you just place that printed side of the paper on the scanner glassand then press the scan button in your printer the-- on --light will blink for sometime and then stops that means the allignment is complete.and it will never come again till you replace that particular cartridges.
it is also given on that page which comes out what to press with proper diagrams also see that for proper idea.do not do any thing in your computer till that period.it should only be done with the printer.

My HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One keeps giving me the error message - Scanner failure - Turn power off then on. Turning power off then on, even disconnecting power cord, repeatedly does not solve problem.

Our HP Officejet L7780 displays the "Align Printer" message and then does it automatically wasting several sheets of paper aligning, then the next time we print a page the same message comes back. Is there a way to turn off the "align Printer" message. It is printing ok otherwise.

HP deskjet 5652

Well, one way is to just take the paper out when it tries, and when it gives you an error message tell it to abort the print. Another way is that the second it starts printing press the power button, or cancel button if it has it, that will tell the printer to stop printing.
