Never force the advance lever on a camera that is locked. You will only damage more parts, and may render the camera unrepairable. Try moving the speed indicator to different settings. Change the batteries. Jar the camera by hitting it lightly with the palm of your hand. But, never force the advance lever if it is locked and will not move.Click Here for pictures I have a Pentax and - gear.gif

but i would suggest you to get it done by a repair center unless you have proper expertise about the repair.

The problem affects all Pentax Spotmatic models and probably all the
earlier SLRs like Matt's. It happens when, for some reason, the mirror
mechanism doesn't become cocked with the shutter when the film advance
lever is operated. The shutter release button won't depress and the
double-exposure prevention stops the lever winding any further. The
camera is completely jammed. Fortunately it's very simple to cure this.

    Remove
the bottom plate and hold the camera with the lens facing away from
you. To the left of the tripod mount there's a lever projecting up
through a slot. There's a long spring hooked into a hole in the end of
the lever. With your finger nail push the lever upwards towards the
lens to the end of its slot and it will latch itself. Then fire the
shutter and camera is back to normal.

So now you know what to do if you see a Spottie being sold for spares/repair because it's jammed!

Where can i get a manual forthe pentax water pump cam 50

Although it has a manufacturer's name of Pentax, I don't think this is a camera. Industrial Machinery may be a better option.

Every time I change the battery in my pentax s5i the time and date revert to' as new' and I have to reset date and time. I have been using the camera for 6 years without this problem. Any ideas?

It may be a circuit designed to maintain date/time settings when the battery is removed that has failed.

Although a very good camera, I would imagine the cost of repair would be greater than the value of the camera.

A couple of thoughts though, if you are making an immediate swap with a charged spare battery, then there's a fault, you may find a firmware upgrade on the Pentax website which may help.

If there is a delay in replacing the battery, then having a spare, fully charged battery available at the time, may circumvent the problem.

I would like to buy spares for pentax me super camera

Please state which specific parts you require.

In reality, almost no spare parts are available and all that you can get are either NOS (New, Old Stock) or second-hand parts from dismantled bodies which are usually available at camera fairs or on some auction websites. Long established camera repair shops may also have them gathering dust at the back of their shelves, although most such shops have a regular clear out of old parts once the demand for professional repairs for any given model has ceased. The ME Super ceased production in 1984 so remaining examples are generally completely uneconomic to repair professionally.

No new spares are available other than minor generic items such as screws, straps, covers and caps and most of those will not be Pentax originals.

As the cameras are still plentiful and many were hardly ever used it's still usually easier and cheaper to replace a broken ME Super with a complete working second-hand replacement, although it's wise to immediately send such cameras for a professional CLA service (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust) as years of infrequent or even non-use will have caused internal lubricant films to dry out and they can rapidly turn a working camera into a scrap item. It's usual when you do this to pay extra to have the foam light seals replaced as well as they degrade into a corrosive sticky goo. Once serviced, your camera should be good for many more years but if you use it heavily then consider getting a CLA done every year or two.

My pentax optio 50 lens got stuck half-way and now the camera turns on briefly and then goes off automatically. I've replaced batteries and pushed the lens in manually, but it's still not working. Mary

This is tricky .. if you have no warranty, and have already managed to push the lens in.. I suggest pulling the lens outwards gently AS you simulataneously turn the camera on. You may be able to use a small suction-cup affixed to the lens to do this :)
you could hold the lens-cover open with tape so the cover is less likely to be damaged.. good luck, this problem is common, annoying, and usually not worth repairing (*although with some cameras it can be done again and again!)

I had the 33WR last year, and opened it up. My subjective opinion is that it cannot withstand the pressure underwater. Someone tried it and water got in.
