You just connect to the usb port on the CPU and it will be detected on your system and in MY COMPUTER you will be seeing another drive named as Removable Disc.....

first you can right click on it and format it once and it could be used as a portable data storage...

you can simply right click on the file and SEND TO REMOVABLE DISC to transfer the date or you can do the usual copy and paste technique

while removing it from the system in the tray you will see and green arrow symbol...click it STOP the device and then plug it out of the CPU

thankyou

Hello I bought 3 x 2gb cruzer usb sticks to run music on my sony hi fi they are not recognised..do they need formatting?

You could format them yes, but sometimes the device will not recognize certain memory sticks. You could call sony and see if those are supported USB sticks.

I want a software which helps to make my usb alive

Hi.

USB memory sticks do not require additional drivers if you use Windows XP or later.

Here drivers for Windows 98: Windows 98 USB Mass Storage Device Driver.

Please let us know if you need more help.

My memory stick says it needs to be formatted, but i cant lose the work. I have downloaded three differant types of file re-storers. none of them have even picked up that my memory stick is there.HELP!!!...

you can try some data recovery software. You can see
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the memory card (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the memory card and recover your files.

I cant format or put data on my Verbatim Memory stick disk is write protected, and it appears the following pop-up screen Verbatim Memory stick disk is write protected so please provide me with...

Some Verbatims have a write protection switch on its side - make sure it's not activated. Then open the properties of the stick in My Computer. If in there the stick isn't set as read only then it has died - there's nothing more you can do to save it. Junk it and get a new one.

How do you use a memory stick ? How do yo download thing from your computor to the stixk?

Plug your memory stick into any usb port on your computer, and if you click on "MyComputer" you will see it has appeared under "Devices with Removable Storage"and has given it a letter ( possibly the letter L) You can then save files ect. to it. Remember to safely remove your stick by clicking on "Safely Remove Hardware" and then clicking on your devices letter (possibly L) and wait till it tells you it's save to remove it.
Hope this helps you.

I put the memory stick in the usb port and it came apart..It doesnt recognize it at all. I have pictures on there that I can replace...Help!!!

Hi,

The reference you make to a memory stick is wrong and may lead you to the wrong answers. The 12GB StorenGo is anything but a memory stick.

In fact it is a 1.3" hard drive in a protective case. If you ask for, recieve and follow advice designed for memory sticks you may verywell further damage the device.

Please treat this as you would a PC harddrive however small it may be. If the device came apart but did not short there is a chance it can be re-assembled. If there were any shorts or lost parts it will likely need to go into a lab.

Please reply with more detail regarding it falling apart so I can help you assess the situation better.

I have purchased a memory stick[8GB] and I need to know how to use it

Hello !

If you are familiar with floppy disks (were placed in the "A" drive) from years ago, the memory stick works in the same way. Instead of saving to the "A" drive, you would save to a drive letter.

If you have a computer that is less than 8 years old, you probably have a USB port. The USB port is rectangular in shape.

Place the memory stick in your USB port (any USB port). The stick only goes one way. So if it does not fit, flip it over and try again. Do not force it.

You should see a message displaying a drive letter (probably "E", "F" or "G") that has been created. Note that drive letter.

Now, the memory stick will allow you to save your files to the "E", "F" or "G" drive. Your computer's hard drive is "C". When you save files (in a document, for example), you are saving to your "C" drive. To save to the memory stick, select "Save As" with in your software program, such as Word, and select the memory stick's drive letter. Your document will be saved to your memory stick. Note that the light will go on the memory stick as it saves your document.

When you are finished with the memory stick, look for a symbol on your Toolbar (near the date/time). Right-click the item and select "Eject" and you'll get a message that it is safe to remove your hardware.

Please note to never remove your memory stick when your are saving a document or other file.

That's it !!

Hope this helps.
