Question about Casio Music

1 Answer

Hi, I have just bought a casio CT-670 keyboard ( very old I know). It was not working when I bought it. I have taken the back off and all looks well except for the power wires. They are attached to DC 9V socket but not to any other part of the circuit board. The same issue is with the wires to the battery supply. Can anyone advise on where to attach the wires too?

This service manual should be close to your unit... it is a CRK671:

http://elektrotanya.com/casio_ctk671_sm.pdf/download.html

Scroll down to "get manual" and click on it to download. IGNORE other download links.
Power input schematic is on page 10, lower right corner. They appear to "or" in the batteries with the adapter if adapter is used. Look for the diodes and also the bifilar power inout filter.

I lost my adapter to my keyboard and I need to find either a substitute or a new way to turn it on without the adapter, HELP!!!.

Some Casio Keyboards use 9V DC (center negative) others 12V DC (center negative).
If check what voltage your Keyboard use. Generic AC adapters are usually center positive. So you have to invert the wire with a new DC plug to make it center negative,
Easiest is to buy a Casio ac adapter made for your keyboard from a Casio retailer.

How do I Factory Reset a Casio CT-670. I downloaded the Manual and not even that can show me how to reset the device.

Manual sure doesn't tell you... One website said you hit the power button and during the time it shows "power down" you unplug the power from the back of the unit. I have no way of verifying this.

What power source/adapter do I need for Casio tone bank CT-670

Look where the power plugs in. There may be a voltage stamped on the keyboard. It may also have a sticker with info. on it telling what the power rating would be. Radio Shack carries a lot of universal adaptors. You don't tell what brand or model it is in your post. That might be more helpful. Hope this is helpful.

What kind of power source/adapter do I use for my Casio tone bank

Take a close look at where the power source adapter plugs in, there should be something written which will indicate the voltage requirements, write them down, for example it might indicate +plus or minus 12 volts DC at 400 Milliamps. Take the info you write down to Radio Shack and they should be able to sell you a universal power adapter that will work. You should have a power on-off switch some where on the unit.

Casio CT-670 Tone Bank keyboard completely dead

How familiar are you with schematics? I've just found my CT-670, There where marker marks on the keys. I cleaned it up. I took it apart as one channels had no sound. I love this machine. I want to find a manual for it also schematics would be very helpful for me too.
I would suggest looking inside for burns on semiconductors. or loose soldering. I need to replace a chip that has no cross reference... that I've found yet... I think it's an amplifier but need to spend more time on it....
