Hello ania1997,
I've seen this 'problem' before.
First, disconnect the "Mouse."
Next, click on the "Start Button."
Now, click on the "Control Panel," in the 'start menu'.
Scroll in the Control Panel, and select the "Mouse" applet!
Open the [Mouse Properties], by 2x clicking or,
Right clicking,and open.
From here you want to [Disable the Touchpad Device].
!Beware, that now, you may have to "Manually Navigate."
Without the 'mouse; you will use the "Tab, Arrows, and 'Enter' buttons,
to perform tasks, if the 'optical mouse' doesn't work the first time.
"Restart the computer."
Connect the "Optical Mouse."
"The {Mouse should be detected automatically}."
If you need help with anything else?
"Write a 'comment'; I'll be here to assist you!"
"Best Regards"

If the mouse did not come with an installation disc, and you don't have the XP disc I would check with either Microsoft or the Manufactures website to see if you can download and install the driver from there.

HP wireless mouse

Try replacing the batteries. Wireless mice do funky things when the batteries are low.

My Microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse is not working

Did you check the batteries?
Is the little red light under the mouse lit when you plug it in?
Have you looked in the device manager to see if the system is recognizing it? Do this by right clicking on "my computer" and left clicking on "properties." Then left click on "hardware" and then "device manager."
Check the devices: "mice" and also "human interface devices."
If you find the mouse, highlight it and delete it.
Restart your computer and plug the mouse USB receiver back in.
Also, click on the "connect" button on the receiver and under the mouse.

Bought an optical mouse today when i turn off the computer it still stays lite. how do i fix this.item #81250NS

The model of mouse (SAKAR 81250NS) you have has fancy external lighting, but should get its power from the computer's PS2 port , so unless the mouse has its own internal battery for keeping itself lit up, your computer is not actually turning off, but perhaps just going into power save mode. I am not that familiar with that mouse brand, but to check if it has its own internal battery, shut down the computer all the way and then unplug the computers power cord. If the mouse still is lit up, then your computer is not the problem.
