Question about Lexmark Office Equipment & Supplies

New black cartridge fitted - printer working - but image shows the cartridge is still empty and needs renewing! I have taken it out and put it back a number of times to no avail, including switching everything off and starting again. How can I get the screen to show that the black cartridge is full. There is no problem with the colour cartridge and they are both true Lexmark cartridges.

Dear Sir/Madam,

The problem you are facing is of not showing filled ink indication so you must reinstall your driver of printer to get it working in normal condition.

:This problem is mostly caued by the ink sensor on the cartridge itself not on your printer. As there is pretty much nothing you can do about this. You can contact Lexmark and have this replaced by filling out the form at their website. You can also click on assisted service if you need more help on the left bar

    By the way do this only if you had uninstalled and reinstalled the probelm but do check first the suggestion of namzyanzy i hadnt though of that.

Remove the printer and clean the contact to cartridges sensor (the one on ink carriage) with alcohol and isopropyl alcohol.

    Try these steps:





    1. On your PC, go to Start, Programs (Windows XP: All Programs), Lexmark series.


    2. Select the Solution Center.


    3. When the Solution Center appears, click on the Maintenance button.


    4. Select the option to Install a new print cartridge. The carrier should slide over at this point and allow you to insert and/or remove cartridges.


    5. Make sure the correct cartridges are installed inside the
      printer first, then inform the software which cartridges have been
      installed. Note: This applies also to installation of a single cartridge.


    6. Print the Print Alignment page to ensure the print quality is satisfactory.


    7. Close the Solution Center.

    Next try these steps as well:





    If your cartridges are not being detected when they are snapped in, do the following:



    1. Open the cover of the printer and unsnap both cartridges.

    2. Snap them back in after a few seconds. Close the cover.

    3. Repeat these steps (1-2) three or more times in succession. You
      will be prompted to go through the menu on the printer display to
      finish the process. Follow the instructions displayed.


      1. If your printer is posting a LOW INK LEVEL or CHANGE CARTRIDGE
        error, snap the cartridges in and out as directed above (steps 1-3).
        When you close the front cover, you should see the message Cartridge Change - NEW on the display.

      2. Press Select to indicate that you have just installed a new cartridge.

When I put a new Black ink in my Canon MX452 it shows my black as empty


Hi

if the black cartridge is genuine and new...take it back. It is faulty.
If the cartridge is refilled or compatible...hold the STOP button for 6+ seconds to disable ink monitoring. This should clear the 'empty' error and the printer should work again.

I had same problem with black and blue cartridges. I did all recommendations -- return to factory setting ( no help). Shake cartridges REALLY hard ( no help); reinstall printer/ driver ( no help). What finally WORKED was SWAPPING the cartridges around ( for ex. put red in black spot, blue in yellow). I then got an error message ( b/c in wrong spot). Then I placed them back in correct spots and it WORKED !!! NO more error message that the ship lock was on !!! And this worked with generic cartirdges.

I have put a new black cartridge in printer but nothing is printing out- when I run a test the color cartirdge are working but not black


Hmmm, make sure it is properly fitting in there.... Take it out and put it back in.... Usually the printer performs some kind of "preparing the ink" operation... SO allow it to does this...... Make sure you are using genuine ink, sometimes printers won't accept non-genuine inks.... Hope this helps :)

I refilled a kodac black cartdridge for a ESP 3250 but it still shows empty, how do you reset it?


Hi please try these following options:remove the cartridges and clean the socket which you remove them from,and then put them back in the printer and make sure they are properly fit into position.Uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them again, make sure the cartridges are not damage,check the printer settings to see if they are correct.

I use to refill my brother dcp-130c printer cartridge.but now it shows black cartridge empty also colour cartridges near empty..after I purchace new black cartridge also same messahe appears..pls help me...


the electronic on your printer, the one that detects the black cartridge might be dirty, try cleaning it with some tissue. if that doesn't work, try removing the installation of your printer and then install it back again. if you have any other black cartridge, put it in the printer and try printing. If a page comes out, even if it's blank, then it's the black cartridge that has an issue. try that and let me know.

Cartridges aren't working

It could be it's because you are putting the same cartridges back in again and the printer thinks that they are empty (they have little microchips).
What might work is to buy a new set of cartridges and use them (different microchips) then when they are empty try the ones you are trying to use now. - Although they still have the microchips the printer might think that because they have different chips to the cartridges you have just taken out that they are fresh ones. I don't think it remembers all the cartridges than have been through the machine.

Epson stylus dx 7450 printer


You have a wide format printer but it has the same basic principle as the desktops. You can buy remanufactured cartridges which were reset for you. Or you can refill them. If you refill them, you need a resetter because Epson cartridges have a chip on them which needs to be reset. Because when they are empty, the printer will recognize it as empty and will not function till you put in a new cartridge. If you bought a remanufactured cartridge, and your printer won't recognize it, you need to go back to who sold you the cartridge and either have them reset it or give you a replacement.
