Cant install this model . im using windows 7 as operating system

The driver for this HP printer is already installed in Windows 7. Please follow these steps, and you should be able to use the printer:

1) Turn on the printer, and install the USB cable. First plug in the end to the printer, then the other end to your computer.

2) Windows 7 should automatically detect the printer. Then the Windows Update function should take over and install the correct driver. You should then be able to print a test page.

If you have tried the above, and are still unable to print, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

A) Dicsonnect the printer, turn the printer off and then on, and then re-attach the USB cable to the computer.

B) Click the Windows icon and then choose Devices and Printers. If you see and icon for your HP printer, right click on it and choose Remove device. If you have more than one HP icon, make sure that you remove them all. Once you have removed all of the icons restart your computer. If you do not find any HP icons restart your computer anyway. Leave the printers cable attached to the computer and see if it will detect the printer after the reboot.

C) Disconnect the USB cable from the printer. From your taskbar choose the Windows icon and then click Printers and Devices. In the next window click on Add a local printer. Choose Use an existing port. Click the Use an existing port drop down menu and choose LPT1:, then click NEXT. Click the Windows Update icon and wait for the updates to finish. In the Install the printer driver window under the Manufacturer window choose HP. Then choose your model number, Deskjet 810c, from the list of models. Once you have chosen your driver, re-connect the USB cable to the computer. A window with the heading Installing Device Driver Software should open briefly in the bottom right corner of the screen. Once it disappears click the Cancel button on the Add Printer window.

At that point you should then be able to use your printer. If however you still cannot use the printer, try the routine on another USB connection on your computer. If it still doesn't work, and you have access to another printer, try and connect it to your computer. If that printer connects and works okay then you have an electronic issue with your printer. Depending on the age of the printer you may want to look at repairing it. However with prices on printers being as low as they are right now, it might actually be cheaper to buy another printer rather than repair your old one.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue. Should you need further information or assistance please do not hesitate to let us know.

HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One Printers Protection Fault Problem

A lot of HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One printer users complain about the installation problem experienced with this product, especially those using the Windows XP operating system. The driver installs perfectly; it performs the alignment and prints the test page. But as soon as you print a document, photo, or anything from the computer, the printer fails and says "The program has encountered a problem and needs to close". When you go to the printer properties, you'll get a message: Function address 0x500a0490 caused a protection fault. (Exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property page(s) may not be displayed.

The problem can be resolved by completely uninstalling the driver and installing it again. When the installation is complete, click the START button on the lower left corner of your screen then on the right pane, click 'Printers and Faxes'.

Under the printer tasks, click 'Add a printer' then click Next on the Add Printer Wizard dialog box. Select 'Local printer attached to this computer' and uncheck 'Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer' then click Next. Click 'Use the following port' and select LPT1: (Recommended printer port) then click Next.

Select HP under the Manufacturer list and under the Printer list, select hp deskjet 990c then click Next. Select 'Keep existing driver (recommended)'; click Next, name your printer, select Yes to set your printer as the default printer then click Next. Select Yes to print a test page, click Next then Finish to complete the setup. Click OK when a dialog box appears.

Go back to the 'Printer and Faxes' folder and right-click on the name of your printer. Select Properties and click Ports/Connections then check 'USB...Virtual printer for.....hp deskjet 990c'. Click Apply then OK and you should now be able to use your HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One printer.

My HP CP2025 printer will not print color text and color shading in Word. It prints color photos, pdfs, and paintbrush files, but will not print color in Word or Word Perfect.

I had this problem on Windows 7 64x.

The solution that finally worked for me:
1. Go to your Devices & Printers window. (from the Start menu)
2. Right-click on your HP CP2025 printer and select Printer Properties.
3. Select the Device Settings tab.
4. Scroll to the bottom where you see Device Type. It probably says "Auto Detect."
5. Click on the words "Auto Detect" to activate a drop-down menu. Select "Color". Click the Apply button.

To test if this fixes your color printing, go to the General tab and click the Print Test Page button at the bottom. The page should print the Windows logo in color at the top of the page (the rest of the page is b&w).

Note: I did not install any additional drivers from HP for this printer. Windows automatically detected it and installed HP's Universal Print Driver PCL 6.

Kudos to Ken from the HP forums for this knowledge: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-LaserJet/CP2025-Won-t-Print-in-Color/td-p/1151762

Printer tells me to install new color cart. after i have put in new hp cart.

Hi,

1. Press the Setup button.
  1. Use the arrow keys to select Tools and then press the OK button.
  2. Select Clean Print Cartridge and then press OK . The device prints a test page.
  3. Examine the test page. If the print quality of the page is good, stop here. If the print quality is bad, go on to the next step for further cleaning.
  4. Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:
    • Open HP Director , select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox .
    • If the HP Director method does not work, open Printers and Faxes in the Windows Control Panel , then right-click your printer icon and choose Properties . Click on Printing Preferences . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon.
  5. The Printer Toolbox opens. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , then follow the on-screen instructions. Up to three levels of cleaning are available. Discard or recycle the page that prints.
  6. Remove and re-insert, while the product is switched on.
If still bad, swap out the cartridge.

Hope this helps
Regards

My HP Photosmart 8450 no longer prints lines, boxes, etc., since I upgraded to VISTA and MS Office/Word 2008. HP says to buy a VISTA-compatible printer...they do not have an updated driver. Any solutions?

You can use the drivers supplied by Windows Vista

Verify that the printer is turned on.
Connect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable to the printer and to the computer.
After plugging in the device, select Don’t show this message again for this device.
Click Continue on User Access Control (UAC) Window.
Go to the Start ( ) icon, click Control Panel , click Hardware and Sounds , and then click Printers .
Click Add a printer .
Click Add a local printer .
Select the Use an existing port check box.
In the Use an existing port drop-down list, select USB001 and then click Next .
Under Manufacturer on the Install the printer driver dialog box, select HP .
Under Printers , select HP Photosmart 8400 series and then click Next .
In the Printer name text box, type the printer name and then click Next . The printer driver starts to install.
When the message You're successful and HP Photosmart 8400 series appears, you can print a test page to ensure that the printer is working correctly and then click Finish .
