How Do I Capture Live Audio with M-Audio Fast Track Pro

I am trying to capture audio from dvd or cd playback on the pc. What settings can I use to capture that audio using the m-audio fast track pro? I do not want to use the audio out or line out, I want to capture the sound direct on the computer. Soundblaster Audigy had a feature called "what you hear" that allowed you to do this, does the m-audio fast track pro?

All you have to do is to connect with 2 cables your cd's or dvd's output to the two 1/4” TS plus in the front side of the Fast Track Pro and a usb cable from the rear panel of the Fast Track Pro to your pc's usb port. I suppose that you have installed the drivers for Fast Track Pro at your pc.
Anyway in case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

How to conver analog vedio to digital

you need following Equipment

  1. PC
  2. Analog Capture Card (you can find prices here)
  3. Sound card (some capture cards has their own audio input)
  4. Cables
  5. VHS Player/Camcorder
  6. Capture Software (Windows Movie Maker 2 can do this)
and perform these Steps

  1. Hook up your capture device to your computer
  2. Turn on your PC, install the drivers
  3. Hook up your analog player to your capture card with the cables
  4. Load your capture software
  5. Set the capture options (video and audio)
  6. Start the capture process
  7. Start the playback on your analog device
  8. Once the analog device has finished, press stop
  9. Stop the capture process
  10. Save the video

Remember, you capture card merely records the signals that comes from you analog device. If the footage is blurry and choppy, it's probably because of aged tapes or dirty video heads.

Good luck, do rate the solution if helped

Tv-tunner cannot render audio capture stream

What cable connections are you using? HDMI has to be enabled on you motherboard (high def. audio), if its S-Vidio you must run a seperate and dedicated audio cable from headphone jack to TV.
My first gues would be to right click your audio icon on your desktop toolbar and check your playback and recording settings, make sure the tuner card is the source, hope this helps!

Can't capture just audio with no video

Capture it as a standard video clip (with audio), then export the audio track out of Final Cut. If you export as 48 KHz, 16-bit stereo, then there should be no loss in quality as the output is the same as the captured input.

Taking recordings from mixing desk

As the Fastrack can only receive one audio signal at a time you would have to record each track seperatly into Pro Tools.

I'm guessing your mixer is a multitrack recorder.

Solo track 1 on the multitracker and playback from there into the Fastrack, with track 1 on Pro Tools set to record. Repeat this for each or your tracks on the multitracker.

When you've finished you'll need to align all the tracks in Pro Tools so they all playback in time with each other.

Sound is not recorded

The problem would appear to be your audio settings.

You have the audio input set to Realtek HD Audio Input. That is the audio input on your soundcard, not the video capture card. You will need to change this so that you have the capture card selected. (I am not familiar with this exact model of card so I can't tell you exactly what it will be called.)

Alternatively, if you are trying to capture the audio via your soundcard (not recommended as it can cause sync problems) you will need to make sure that the 'line in' channel in enabled in the Windows mixer:

Start>Control Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Audio Tab>Click Volume in sound recording section>Tick Line In

Hope this helps,

Matt
