Re: D-565 Jammed up...help?

Take the batteries out, and let it sit for a couple of hours, doesn't always work, but sometimes it does.

Camera was laid on its face and now lens won't open. worked fine before

This is a situation where the lens has jammed in it housing, there is a motor that extends and retracts the lens. One of two tings have happened, the motor has seized, or the gears have jammed preventing the lens from moving. This will require a camera technician to see if it's possible to repair lens in the housing.

My Olmpus fe-360 wont turn on the lens won't retract and it beeps when I try to turn it on

The lens is jammed, which means a gear is stripped or damaged, or jammed in the lens assembly, and the electronic "brain" is turning it off, since it's not in the right position (retracted). This can be caused by the camera getting bumped while the lens was out, dust, dirt, or sand can get in the lens through the front of the camera and jam it, or the batteries could be weak. After you make sure your batteries are good, and it still isn't working, go to this web page and try their suggestions. They report about 1/2 of the cameras with a lens problem can be fixed trying their suggestions. If that doesn't work, don't have it serviced- you can buy a better new camera than what you would pay a service shop.

The page says "lens error" messages, but it also applies to your problem.

On last pwr down the lens only retracted halfway. Now, press pwr button and the pwr lite blinks 3X, stays lit, blinks 3X, goes out and the camera does nothing. Is it brain dead? Tnx, Bobert

Try replacing or charging your batteries, then see if that fixes it. Lens could be stuck by dirt or something, see if you can gently assist it closing when you power it on again. Other possibility that comes to mind, other than being "brain dead", is that the gears that drive the lens have broken or jammed. Not sure what a camera shop would charge to check it out, but you might try to get a good used one on Ebay, they seem to go for around $60. Hope this helps!

My Ricoh R7, the shutter is jammed and wont close or open, its stuck half way. I live near Glasgow. Know where I can get a repair done?

If you are sure that your battery if fully charged but still does not do any good, then do this little trick:

1. Hold the camera on your right hand with the lens facing the ground.

2. As you press the power on button, tap or hit the camera's base to your left palm. Do this several times.

Chances are, there could be a sand or granule of dust that got stuck on the sides of the lens, preventing it to retract properly.

Hope this helps.

Lens Stuck open on Mz67 hp camera Error code Mz60-022

Was this stuck fully open or was the lens partially opened, or was the lens jammed?

The lens can be removed and replaced with another lens from another non-functioning camera (See ebay). The lens component can also be dissembled. Putting the lens back together is tricky because the parts have to be aligned just right for the lens to work. If working with a Jammed lens, extra care has to be considered not to break any of the moving plastic parts of the lens or that part (if not entire lens) is junk.

With the motor detached from the lens, the lens should extend and retract freely. Use this to test the lens when you dissemble the camera. Be careful of the flash board.

My canon powershot sd800IS Has lens error, restart camera it takes pics but the lens doesn't zoom right or retract completely

the mechanism is jammed or broken, the camera needs to be disassembled the lens needs to be inspected and disassembled and then assembled back together the right way.

I highly recommend sending it to a professional service, as these are tricky devices and easyly break.

I can recommend www.advancecamera.com/repair get a free estimate from there.

let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Canon powershot S2IS

1>>u may have dropped the camera in some place.
2>>the camera POWER ON switch must have got pressed while the camera was inside pouch. if this has happened, the lens system gets jammed and so lens wont retract. for this problem it costs nearly 1800rupees in indian service center.
