This information comes from the online reference book: Using the Sound Menu

Use the remote to open the TV menu. Select the Sound menu, and the "speakers" decision. From the two choices, "TV Speakers" tells the tv to use its built-in speakers. "Audio System" tells the TV to use an external audio system, and disables the internal speakers. Select "Audio System," and check to see if it works. If it still hasn't recognized that there is an external audio system plugged in, you may need to clean the stereo mini jack (3mm audio jack) with a small wooden toothpick or similar small diameter non-conducting device.

I'm trying to connect these long black speakers to my tv and it's not working.

If you look in the menu on your TV there should be an audio selection for internal or external speakers. You have to set it to external before the audio jacks will work. Keep in mind that most TV only put out 5 to 10 watts which may not be enough to power these speakers properly. That's why most people buy an amplifier to go between the TV and external speakers.

Panasonic CT 27 SL - 13 GL how to connect external speakers

This TV is set up to connect to an external amplifier which that controls the speakers. It has an analog audio output which means you need an RCA audio cable (2 RCA plugs (red and white) on each end. You can't directly connect a set of speakers. The audio output jacks at between the antenna in and the video inputs. Then you need to enter the menu and enter the Audio submenu. Go to the Speakers item. Turn the TV speakers to off and fixed audio out.(The amplifier will adjust the volume.) Use the Up/Down arrows to navigate through the menu options, press enter to enter a sub-menu and the volume up button to change a setting.

There is also a headphone jack which may be compatible with computer speakers. That has a 3.5 mm jack. To use headphones, set the Speakers Audio item to TV speakers Off and variable audio out. (The TV controls will adjust the volume.)

To use a Universal remote to set the audio or modify the channel list, you need one that matches the Menu function of the original remote. You may need to try multiple codes for Panasonic TVs to get the button to work. Some low-end universal remotes may not have the menu button; get a different remote or use the menu button on the front panel of the TV.

To set the channel list, press Menu and select Setup. Go to the Prog Chan option. Then set your Mode in the first option (Cable or Air). Then choose Auto Program to scan all channels or Manual Program to edit the channel list.

The manual for the TV is available at retrevo: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Panasonic-CT-27SL13-TVs-manual/id/275ag210/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to access the manual. See page 5 of the manual for the input connections (page 7 of the PDF).

the sender plugs into the TVs audio out jack and you may need to select on a on-screen menu for the TV, audio out for the external speaker, in other words, the tv speakers are activated but maybe not the external audio jack for the sender unit. Many HDTVs have a very complex menu (firmware) with all kinds of options you can select. Check into this possibility.

Remote has locked sound for my tv,how do i rectify?

I assume you are not talking about the mute button.

Do you want sound played through the TV speakers or through an external sound system? I once worked on a TV that was set to mute the internal speakers and send the sound only to the external sound output jacks (fortunately the owner remembered he had done this before we got into the sound circuit - the set had been out of commission for a while with another problem).

Without knowing what model you have, I can only suggest you look through your manual for instructions on setting up the TV for use with an external stereo receiver. This may tell you how you got there so you can figure out how to undo it. If you don't have the manual, you'll have to hunt through the on-screen menus for the sound output setting.

There is no volume on the tv, the volume bar goes all the way to 99 but there is no sound, i plugged in external speakers it worked but the tv volume is not working. How do i fix this problem?

Go into your Audio menu on the TV and make sure the TV speaker are set to “ON”.
If the external speakers work when connected to the TV and the TV’s internal speakers don’t work when you remove the external speaker’s plug from the TV, then you will need to replace the main board.
The main board has all the function for the audio for the internal speakers. This was a known issue for some of the LG TV’s. So if you call LG about this issue, LG may fix it under a warranty.
Good luck.

How can I hook up external speakers? I have

Go to your tv menu, and make sure that your fixed audio output is selected not variable. Variable will make not work, with the television volume is turn down. When you hook the speakers, make certain that it is on a fixed audio out, not variable, as well.
