Buttons do not respond

To find out you should check on the Samsung website.

1. Navigate to http://www.samsung.com/au/.
2. Select Troubleshooting from the Support drop down menu, located top/right of screen.
3. In the Search product support field, type Digimax 4010. (NOTE: Check that it is 4010 and not 401). Press <Enter>.

Look at anything which appears to be relevant. I have quickly scanned the manual for the 401 and couldn't find anything that was related to using it as a WebCam however, SAMSUNG provided the following information to the question:

1. Connect the USB cable to the camcorder and the PC.
2. Power On the Camcorder and put in REC Mode. Windows will detect the device. (If you are using a DuoCam, you must use the Camcorder side.)
3. Launch Messenger or other webcam software.
4. If using Messenger, click on the Webcam Button in the message pane of the "contact" with whom you wish to share video. Read the agreement and click OK.
5. Your streaming video will begin.

Card error means the camera wants you to format the card in the camera, not the computer.

Try replacing batteries (high Ah photographic type).
The lens motor & electronics may be draining power if Ah capacity has dropped too low. At night, it could be that your flash is trying to fire (another drain), or shutter timer / mirror staying open longer.

It could be anything... Did you over charged the batteries (if rechargeable)?

can you see if theres any broken tin inside the battery compartment?

does the power button taps normally when depressed?

is the camera still under warranty?

If memory card is full, just try to delete one picture and try to take a picture and check if it will be saved in the memory card.

There is a Delete All option.

Or if you want to, you may format the memory card and the pictures will be deleted.
