My 7 year old FujiFilm

My 7 year old FujiFilm FinePix 4800Zoom has developed a problem. When I turn the camera on and go to display mode, the screen just shows kind of light purple static. It's like I can see all of the unvalued pixels. Is the CCD dead or is there more than one internal battery? Also, many times the lens will retract back into the body when I turn the camera off. I have replace the replacable battery but still have the problems. Any ideas.
