Question about HP Laserjet Cp2025n Printer

Just purchased an HP cp2025n printer. It is not on the network. It is connected directly through USB. When we print, it prints SOME color, but not exactly what is on the screen. It seems like random color. (i.e., some graphics will be color, but the text (that should be color) will print black) and it doesn't seem to just be the text that is black; in outlook it won't print the calendar in color. When I print out a test page from the printer, it shows all the colors just fine. But if i do a test page from the computer, it is black and white. I have checked printer settings, and software settings, but cannot find out how to fix this problem. The driver loaded is what came with the printer (CD); Computer is running Windows XP and Office7.

No.

Very few printers will print if they're out of toner, even if the colour toner is exhausted and the print job is only black. Replace the empty toner and if this is the only problem, the printer will continue printing.

Your driver is not sending color data. Either your driver is set to print in geayscale, or you are printing through a monochrome driver to the IP address of the CP 2025

Did you purchase a new OEM HP toner or a refilled or remanufactured toner. It is possible that the chip is bad on the cartridge in which case if it is a true HP cartridge have them replace it. If you purchased 3rd party go after the vendor to replace it.

Only first print job is done. ( HP color laser jet 2025.)


Hey Sean,

Is the printer networked or connected through USB, it could be either a problem with the spooler or a problem with the formatter board, try the following:

Turn the printer off:

While the printer is off hold down the right arrow (next to the OK button) and the cancel or x button, turn the printer on while still holding and continue holding until you see the message permanent storage displayed on the lcd screen, let go of the buttons and wait for the printer to display the ready message again. This is known as a NVRAM and will reboot the printer, completely clearing out any corrupt data.

Print out a configuration report if your printer is networked through a router, and check to see if the ip address has changed from what is displayed in the ports tab under the driver properties.

Check the firmware date code; under product info on the configuration report. Check on the hp.com website under support & drivers for your operating system and the latest firmware update, if your printer is out of date, download the update and sync your printer

Try printing a test page (go to your printers folder, right click on the icon, go to printer properties, and go to the general tab) if the test page does not print, configure the ip address manually on the ports tab.

You can adjust the printer to print directly without spooling under the advanced tab, select the option to print directly to the printer.

If this does not fix the issue the it is definitely the formatter board and you will have to have the printer service or call hp if within the 1 year warranty period and ask for an express exchange (US Only) , where they will send you a refurbished model for a fee typically $69 + tax.

Make sure the printer is connected directly to the outlet. If there is no display there is no use trying anything else as this is a formatter failure and the printer requires service.

Try a nvram:
Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the right arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

If there is a display,
print out a configuration report
check network settings ipv4addr, check port under driver properties. and make sure the same ip address is selected.

if using usb download a universal print driver and try installing the driver and selecting the usb virtual port

HP LaserJet 3550 spits out blank paper when job sent from computer but prints fine when printing directly from printer


Try connecting the printer via the USB port on either one of the computers. Then test if the machine prints fine then likely possibility is that the Network interface card is faulty remove the network card and install in a different slot and test. If the same thing happens then reinstall the drivers and test.
