Question about Panasonic DMR-ES40V DVD-Video Recorder
All of a sudden, nothing works - won't read DVD's and I have a black and white split screen that is distorted.
I have had that problem before. First reset your unit by holding down the channel up and channel down on your unit for about 10 seconds until it shuts off. This restores the default settings and my get your DVDs to be read again.
The split screen is probably indicating that your Progressive option is On and should be turned Off. Press the Display button on your remote control ----> go to the Video menu ---> go to Progressive and turn it Off.
If you are still having trouble, download the updated firmware from the Panasonic website, store it a cd and put it in your DVD player. (Instructions are on the Panasonic website)
After you run the firmware install procedure you may have to turn the Progressive video option off again. Hope this works for you as well as it worked for me. All the Best - Tamara
