Re: Samsung Digimax 201 and INFINEON 128mB SD Card

The disc reader works fine and, yes, it is an obvious defect even though Samsung won't admit it. I just figured $20 to workaround the problem was better than going through the hassle of returning the camera, picking out another brand, and plunking down the extra dollars another camera would cost. The deal on the Samsung was good and I like the pics I've taken so far. Any comparable camera would probably have a higher price point anyway. I also was guessing that it might be some conflict with the software on my PC and that any other camera I bought might also bring trouble. Then I came here and found out it wasn't just my problem, despite what Samsung says.

Re: Samsung Digimax 201 and INFINEON 128mB SD Card

Had a similar problem running windows XP, it couldn't read my sandisk SD card on a usb sandisk imagemate reader/writer. The solution on Microsoft's site was worthless, having already applied all XP patches. Fortunately, I tried accessing the SD card under windows 2000 and it worked fine, so I formatted the SD card in windows 2000 and now it works fine in XP.

Hi how do i formatt my camera card

From page 63 in the manual.

Format

Internal memory format : Remove the SD memory card to format the internal memory.

SD memory card format : Insert the SD memory card to format the SD memory card.

All the files in the memory are deleted by the [FORMAT] function.

Before formatting the memory, it is advisable to copy important data onto other media as back-up

e.g. floppy disks, hard disks, CD etc.

1. Turn the camera power on.

2. Select the PLAY mode by rotating the mode dial.

3. Do not turn the LCD monitor off.

4. Press the MENU button to display the menu on the LCD

monitor.

5. Press the UP( )/ DOWN( ) button and select [DELETE].

6. Press the SET( ) button and the sub menu will display.

7. Select [FORMAT] by pressing the UP( )/DOWN( ) button

and press the SET( ) button

8. Select [NO] or [YES] and press the SET( ) button.

[Selecting NO] : The image will be displayed on the

LCD monitor.

[Selecting YES] : A [PLEASE WAIT!] message is

displayed and all of images are
deleted.

I have a Samsung digimax 201 . I have a 4GB SDHC Card. I put it in the camera and it does not work ..why ?

The Digimax 201 is designed to work with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they will not work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Memory card saying "full" when its not

Your problem is that you are using an incompatible type of memory card.

Your camera was designed to use SD cards with a maximum capacity of 2GB. It cannot use larger capacity models, and is also incompatible with the later SDHC cards.

SDHC cards are the same shape and will fit your camera, but have differences beneath the skin and so won't work properly in your camera. Without any memory card in place your camera uses internal memory; it's then only by lucky chance that your camera has sufficient SDHC compatibility to allow you to transfer the internal memory image to the SDHC card when you subsequently insert it into your camera.

Your only solutions are to either use an SD card with a maximum capacity of 2GB or to replace the camera with a later model which is fully SDHC compliant.

Ive got a Samsung Digimax L70 and I have been trying to clear the actual camera's memory. I have uploaded photo's from the SD card but 400 or more photos remain on the camera and I just can't access them...

Wow! You have 400 pics on the internal memory. That must be some huge internal memory. Anyway, to delete them, remove the card from the camera...go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.

SD CARD

If I remember correctly, when you insert an SD card, it "hides" the camera's internal memory. There should be an camera option for copying the files from the internal memory onto the inserted SD card. If not, you could try connecting the camera to your computer with the SD card removed, in order to access the files in the internal memory.
