Do I need both cables for windows machine or can the USB connected to the machine and the mini dp plugged into the monitor work by itself

Is this an external monitor cable? Where the monitor cable that connects to the computer has two USB cables attached at one end?

If so, no. You do not need to plug both ends in. If one is powering the monitor fine and you see no performance problem occurring with the monitor you are OK to plug in just one.

The extra USB end connected to the cable is for additional power supply. If for some reason the machine you are plugging into does not supply enough power to the external monitor you would plug the second end it to the machine and boost the power to the monitor.

Hope that helps.

Why my usb docks no works in my monitor dell 1707 fpv

I have the same type of monitor and i use the monitor as a external monitor with my laptop. I have already done on my monitor the same thing that your trying to do. The solution to this problem is that the monitor itself needs a "USB 2.0 Data Cable -A- Male/B-Male" which one end of the cable will be connected to your desktop or laptop and the other end which is the around shape goes behind the monitor where the connectors are. I have added the picture of this cable. USB 2.0 Data Cable - A-Male/B-Male - 3 ft 9efce73d-dd31-46b9-97a0-7d3865632e38.jpg

Try using a VGA to VGA cable or a dvi to dvi cable because dvi-d and hdmi tend to lack the necessary pins to be converted to an analogue signal. A hdmi to dvi cable may also work

How do you connect an external monitor to my acer one

There should be a VGA cable on the side. This should plug directly into the monitor. If the netbook doesn't have a VGA cable, you can get a USB to VGA converter, so your second monitor will output through USB.

I would call the support line and ask that they replace the entire monitor with a new one. If you have already had it serviced once, it may be a faulty monitor. Not too much else that you can do without coming out of pocket, which I am sure you do not want to do being that the monitor isn't even 6 mos old. Hope this helps out some, I know these things are a hassle but in the long run it would be to your benefit to have the monitor replaced while it is still under warranty.

How should i connect a monitor to dell inspiron 1300 laptop

Hi

Please follow these steps

1) Purchase a VGA cable (these can be purchased from any good PC shop)
2) Plug one end into the VGA connector on your laptop usually will have 15 pins sticking ut on the back of your laptop
3) Plug the other end into the Monitor
4) On your laptop press the fn key and F8 key (or the F key which has a picture of 2 monitors above it) - this will transfer the display from the laptop to the external monitor
5) enjoy :)

Why don't my USB ports on my monitor work

1) good USB cable from Monitor USB input port to PC USB port?

2) Check pin 1 of the USB port, you should have 5vdc.

3) Your monitor's USB ports are basically the powered USB hub, but it must be connected to the PC USB port.

Using a belkin easy transfer cable with only one monitor

Hi there. You can use the same monitor for boh the computer (just consider the annoyance of having to go to computer one, do the trick, disconnecting the monitor and connecting it to computer 2 and so on). If, what you want is to extract the files from the old pc because you are going to get rid of it and want to save them, I"d suggest you get a Hard Drive External Enclosure (between 20 and 35 dollars from most places). Connect such hard drive to it and read it via USB interface (or probably E-SATA or Firewire. Depending what do you have in your computer). Hope it helps, good luck.
