We used our Dynex successfully for several months (serving 2 computers) and then, after a big thunderstorm the other night, now Computer 1 internet will only work when plugged directly to the modem. However, Computer 2 connects through the switch still, no problem. So it seems that the modem is fine, but there's a problem with the switch or Computer 1 cable. Your thoughts?

Try using different ports on the switch. I have seen power surges burn out individual ports on a switch. Put tape over the faulty port so you won't forget it is bad or replace the switch.

Disconnect computer 2 from switch and connect computer 1 to the same port. If computer 1 does not work its network adapter may have been damaged from a power surge. Replace the network adapter.

Good luck!

Thanks for your question.

Given that one computer works and the other does not would tell me to change out cable to see if it fixes the issue, if not then the switch would be the issue on that particular side. Nine times out of ten its the cable itself.

Whichever the case may be you still would be recommended to try another Ethernet cable. Now the lan card inside the computer 2 should also light up when connected, so I would pay close attention to the lan card as well.

Best of luck

Satellite internet losing service during storm

I just got satellite internet service a few months ago and it has been going OK until there was a thunderstorm last night and more rain today. The internet has not been working very well, coming in and out in spurts. I got my dish from Calera at http://www.calera.biz. Does anyone know how to fix their dishes specifically and figure out how to make the internet work better? Spray TEFLON coating on dish

It sounds like you are going to need a control board. You can look for a used one online part number WB27K5210. You can also send your board in to be rebuilt. Corecentrics and Fix your board are two reputable companies.

My computer is not connecting to my Dynex wireless router. I've called my locate cable subscriber and they told me that it's a router problem. I've disconnected the router several times and it shows that...

First off, verify that you can connect to your cable modem directly. After that, hook up your Dynex wireless router and reboot your cable modem. After this, directly connect your computer to the Dynex router (using a cable). If you cannot get an Internet connection, then there is some issue with your Dynex router configuration. It's possible that there might be an IP address conflict with the cable modem. It would be best to contact support for configuring the Dynex.

If you can connect to the Internet with your computer connected directly to the Dynex router, then there must be some router configuration problem affecting your ability to connect wirelessly. You'll have to check the configuration--might be a good idea to completely reset the router and start over. If that doesn't help, you should contact Dynex customer support, as each router has its own configuration specifics. Good luck.

Keep getting message that cable has been disconnected..

First off, you need to update Windows.Go to where your modem is, unplug the ethernet cable from the router and connect direct to your computer, and run Windows update. You may have to reboot several times before all the updates have been implemented.

Then, the flag message you have been getting "cable disconnected" indicates to me that the flag is coming from the internal network card of your computer, not the wireless client in the computer. You need to make sure the wireless client is setup properly to see the router.

Do you know if security has been setup on the router? If so, we will need to walk down that road to get it set up on your laptop.

But first things first. Get the computer updated, and reply back answers tot he above, as well as what Operating System,s you are running.
