Drum Error - The corona wire on the drum unit needs to be cleaned. Clean the corona wire on the drum unit. (See Cleaning the corona wire on page 122.)
Cleaning the corona wire: If you have print quality problems, clean the corona wire as follows: a. Turn off the machine's power switch. Unplug the telephone line cord first, disconnect all cables, and then unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet. b. Open the front cover. c. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. CAUTION: We recommend that you place the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a clean, flat surface with a sheet of disposable paper or cloth underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner. Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once. To prevent damage to the machine caused by static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the illustration. d. Clean the corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from right to left and left to right several times. CAUTION: Be sure to return the green tab to the home position (a) (1). If you do not, printed pages may have a vertical stripe. e. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the machine. f. Close the front cover. g. Plug the machine's power cord back into the AC power outlet first, and then reconnect all cables and telephone line cord. Turn on the machine's power switch.
First turn power off, there are 2 switches. One on the side of the lcd screen and the other is located on the lower right front side. Then unplug from the wall outlet!!! Now open the r side vertical transport door( note if the fuser unit is hot wait aprox. 30 minutes too cool down) remove the 2 silver screws which are directly on the fuser unit ( use a magnetic tip screw driver, this will make it easier) gripit with both hands to avoid letting the fusing unit fall down. When reinstalling the fusing unit, be sure to press the fusing unit into the machine until the surfaces of the gear mesh are seated ok.( there is a green knob to the right that you can turn whch will allow the gears to rotate. next step is to reinstall the silver screws, and close the transport door. Now you can plug the power cord back in to the wall. and turn on the power switches. Note the fuser counter will automatically reset itself to 0 ( that is if you installed a new Fuser unit.) There might be a funny smell for a couple of hours due to the new unit installed fuser. Good Luck
