Hi, I got a CE-150 Futura & I started first steps in using it according to the user guide that came with it. I faced 2 problems; description follows.
First problem I got was not hearing a clicking sound when I insert the bobbin & pull the thread from point A to point B like it said in the guid. They say "until you hear a clicking sound", I keep pulling the thread but hear nothing.
Second problem was threading, in the text it says: "Thread the machine n the following order as illustrated.
guide the thread through thread guide (1) and then pull it down along the groove.
" the illustration however shows 2 different things, the view of the top thread going around the thread guide which is number 1 in the machine identification menu but then it also shows what seems to be zooming on the threading process so it shows the thread going straight to that hook-like thing & into the transparent plastic chamber to go around the dials inside it then go out to do the U-turn & get inserted into the thread take-up. Now should I pass it around the thread guide like they said in the text or should I just pass it by that hook-like thing & get it going?
I wish someone could really help me cuz it would cost about 500 $ to send it back to where I got it from & who knows how much they would charge me. I contacted Singer via Email & they said it could be a threading sensor not picking up the thread but I don't know how to re-thread in a different way.
P.S. the second problem is concerning the threading technique shown in page 18 of the instruction manual of Singer CE-150 Futura so if someone has the same machine (hence same manual) please further explain how this threading thing is supposed to be.
Be sure the bobbin thread is coming off from the left. There is a picture on my Futura bed that shows the correct way to insert the bobbin. If the thread is comming off from the right you will have the problem you described.
Testimonial: "I had my left and right wrong "

Number 1, go out to the Futura support site at www.Futura-support.com and download the patch for Windows 7. On the left hand side of the screen, click on Downloads, then CE100/150/250/350,etc, etc. Make sure you follow the directions CAREFULLY. Also, be sure to completely UNINSTALL all of the Futura software you've already installed and reboot your computer before starting all of the instructions.
If this gives you any problems, I've posted a solution under the CE100 solutions area for running your machine with Windows Vista/7 using a virtual machine program. It's a lot more steps than using the patch, but some people do still need to go this route. Look for it on the CE100 Solutions/Problems home page. Still, you should be fine just with the patch.
I can't answer the tension question, but can answer the first. "Lie" to the computer by starting the software with the machine attached. Then simply unattach the machine and leave the software up. I do this all the time while working on designs or scrolling through items. It's a bit of a pain, but at least I'm not playing jump rope over the USB cable (though I guess I lose out on exercize that way ;).
No it's not, All Singer futura users should be intitled to a 100% refund, or Singer should install new chips in the c-100's for former users. This is obsurb! you invest in the machine, and when the software upgrades itself, you are unable to use your machine. This is so awful
