RCA 27 inch TV shut down and will no longer turn on

Hi,   My 27" RCA TV recently decided to just up and quit.  The TV was working fine (powered up) and then just quit  I tried unplugging the set and then plugging it back in, but no go.  When I go to turn on the TV with the power button, the red LED blinks about 24 times and then stays lit, but nothing else happens.  I have checked the horiz. output transistor and that is fine.  The 3 fuses on the switch mode transformer secondary are good na dnot blown.
Any ideas?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the power supply "module"? Are you referring to the IC voltage regulator on the main PC board? My TV has three boards .... the main chassis board, the CRT board and the ADM board.

I'm pretty much convinced at this point that the problem is due to a bad microprocessor (IC 200) but I'm not 100% certain.

Unfortunately, a replacement microprocessor is no longer available from RCA or any of the parts suppliers that I deal with.  This is RCA part# 272008.  Thanks for the help!

Yes, thank you. It is unfortunate that a new microprocessor is NLA from RCA for a set that is only two years old, but thanks for your help with the diagnosis.

Hi,

I am assuming based on your post that you are comfortable and familiar working with electronics, use of a DVM and a soldering iron.

Pls post back the specific model number or preferably the chassis number of the TV. Additionally, a schematic diagram or better yet a service manual would be of help. Initial tests would involve the standby +5 and the different output voltages of the PSU board without load.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

My 27 in truflat worked fine ,then it just shut off,,,now it keeps coming on and shutting back off constantly

You have developed a shut down issue that can not be resolve other than by a TV repair specialist. This TV is know to have issues with a device called the IHVT (Intergrated High Voltage Transformer). Given this unit is an old CRT based NTSC type I would not see much use in repair unless you have a specific need. The parts for this unit is very difficult to find since the Manfuacture TTE is no longer in business.

I have a 27 inches RCA TV (model:27R410T) , Firstable when i turn the tv on ,it works fine but just for about 2 minutes , after that video has gone , no video only audio ,and start changing channels...

It maybe some semiconductor IC got hot, need service or repair. It may repair itself if you leave it on standby for a month(at operating temprature a week)? This is low tempeature(the lower the temperature the longer the time) annealing or moisture curing technology, used by Nasa on transistor failure in satellites, or long range unmanned vehicles. You can always repair the unit later.

Same problem with my 28 inch 16:9 CRT Sanyo. I usually fix it by cutting the power to the outlet and then it works fine. Had it into the repair shop - and of course it never acts up there...
