Recarcdrf wants more answers to this question
is this a 1525? PC? what OS do you run, we can't help lacking key facts like that.
it's 10 years old. (A KEY FACT HERE)

Recarcdf, are you hyjacking this posts

if yes, why not ask dell this, we are not dell at all here.
we can only point to dell.
like all 10 year old PCs, made
the RTC coin cell is now dead. replace it. CR2032
page 11 ( the most hard COIN in the world to fetch)
I avoid all PCs like this, but here you go. 15 steps. all hard.

or ask dell, ever think to post to their forum ,
watch out for the dweebs that say flash BIOS for every lame excuse.
bricking a good PC you will.
the BIOS was ok for 10 years, and will be for 90 more, have proof.
The BIOS is not bad, the battery that lets it run right IS BAD.

now DELL.com

    Error Code 2000-0111
msg: CPU 0: Invalid Opcode exception occurred.

using google this is the defined cause.
this is bad instructions in RAM.
try running with the useless now 10 year old
    PC main battery removed.
run on AC power only on this laptop.
    run ok now.
if not try running with one stick of ddr memory. 1 at a time.
    see if one is bad.

my answer assumes the coin cell is fresh
and that the user did not replaced the CPU for fun.

It could be loading software that does not belong on your PC.
software that used opcode instruction that are no good for you CPU.

one guy fixed his PC with new driver.
he had one that was wrong there or became corrupted, (bad hdd can do this too)
if the Smart test fails, that means files can be corrupted or missing.

Dell Inspiron 1545 red processor:Pentium(R) Dual-core CPU T4400 @2.20GHz is error code 2000-0221, how to solve this problem?

this is a bios level error, you should still be able to run the system. this code is something you get when you hit F12 and run the diagnostics? or is this a blue screen error? you are probably going to need to boot to F2 (setup) then hit "Alt e" Alt F then Alt B the system will beep on the alt f but that's ok once this is done hit esc, save changes and reboot and see if you still get the error

Computer boots up but then goes into a black screen I have run a Dignostic on it and I get an DST Short Test Error Code 100-0146. This is a Dell Latitude D600. Thanks In Advance

This error indicates that your hard disk drive or the circuitry that controls the hard drive is defective.
Either your hard drive is defective or the motherboard.
Try running diagnostics form a CD on your computer. You should have a CD that came with thecomputer that has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed under contents.Boot form this CD and run the extended diagnostics.
If you don't have the CD you can go to www.support.dell.com andselect "Drivers and Downloads". Enter the "service tag" (serialnumber) of the computer. You can then download "Diagnostics" .
To boot from a CD disk, power on your computer and tap the key tobring you to the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD into the top CD/DVD driveand then select "Boot from CD/DVD" and hit key. Select the"Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics.

If you are able to run the Diagnostics then your hard drive is probably defective.

I have Dell inspiron 1525 window vista recovery reports 5 error are detected in hard drive and memory errors detected on my laptop 1. hard drive doesnt respond to system commands-critical error 2.boot...

your HDD may be corrupted, re-installing windows vista is one option. Your best bet is if you have/ can obtain a copy of windows vista run setup and try the repair wizard in the windows vista setup, the wizard automatically finds errors and missing files and replaces them therefore solving any errors in your HDD. you can also try to use the recovery wizard from your recovery disc. best of luck

Error Code 0141 - No driv detected

Hi anarosenfeld.

After researching all the information online, I found that the issue might be due to the Hard Drive or the CD/DVD Drive.

Based on the information provided by you on this email, I suggest that you perform the below steps:

1) Shut down the system if it is on, Remove the Optical Drive. See instruction in this link: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...htm#wp1179838

2) Power up the system, see if the malfunction is still present.

3) If the malfunction is still present please perform this actions:

4) Shut down the system, Remove the HD and put it back See instruction in this link: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...htm#wp1180014

5) Then, see if the malfunction is still present.

If the issue still persists even after performing the above steps, please perform the further troubleshooting steps which I have mentioned below:

1) Run the Drive Self Test (Hard Drive Diagnostic).

a) The first step to perform when you encounter errors with the hard drive is the drive self test. Depending on the system, this test can be run either from a CD or from the System Setup (BIOS). When you run the diagnostic test, you will be informed whether the diagnostic is able to test your hard drive.

b) Most recent Desktop, Portable, and Workstation systems have the hard drive diagnostic included in the System Setup. You will find detailed instructions on running this test at the following web address:

http://support.dell.com/support/topi...401E0A55174AE6

2) Hard Drive Cannot Boot, is not Detected or Reports Errors.

a) There are many steps that will help solve or least determine the exact cause of the hard drive errors you might encounter. You'll find easy-to-follow steps at the following web address:

http://support.dell.com/support/topi...=us&l=en&s=gen

Please perform all the steps mentioned above.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to ask further questions.

Hi, I have a dell d505 laptop and am getting a dst short test error when running the diagnostic. someone told me I should run the recovery cd, but I no longer have it. How can I get one ? Is there a way to...

You can download Dell Diagnostics from Support.dell.com for your model system, and see if you get a failure indication there. If you get a failure during Dell Diags, then it should help you ID the failed component. If the Diags pass, it is only indication it didn't FIND a failure, so there still MAY be a hardware issue. (Diagnostics only look for a limited selection of possible errors, so failures may still exist, even though a component passed a diagnostic.)

If you are having a memory issue and have two ram modules, best test is to try each module in the system by itself and see if issues go away, if they do, then the one module that generates errors is likely bad.

Re-installing xp

A cyclic redundancy check (CRC error) is an error checking program that is used to verify data and can be caused by hardware or software. The most common causes are bad CD disk, hard drive or memory. To run diagnostics press and hold the <Fn> key while powering the system on. This will run the Dell Diagnostics. Examine the Windows CD and see if there are any scratches or smudges on the media, try another CD disk if you have one.
