Codes are stored in the remote. You can use the CODE SEARCH feature to find something that may work. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails, you may have to try a different universal remote. All universal remotes do not store all possible codes.
You don't say whether you tried using the code search function to find something that works. As for the lack of a "sound system" button, you should be able to select any button other than TV to find a code.
have a old rca television with a build in vcr. connectec a cable box remote works only for volume and channel but power button does not work, with remote was set and stop working call cable company and was told to contact rca to recieve codes for television
You are going to have to order a origanal remote that came with the TV to do this because the universal remote does not have the game mode feature! Go to www.remotes.com to order yours!

i have phillips universal remote that worked just fine until yesterday. my daughter and i were playing a video gae. since then i haven't be able to get remote to work. the little red light comes on up in the corner of the remote and thyere are brand new batteries. help!
Thank you. I did fix the problem. Reviewed the instruction manual for the Samsung VCR and removed the SAFE reading on the VCR by just holding down the TV-VCR button on the RCA universal remote for several seconds which then released the frozen menu screen. From there I was able to reprogram the TV using the instructions and codes for the RCA universal remote. I still have to reprogram the VCR.
