I know this was several years ago that you posted this, but I figured someone searching for an answer may stumble upon this and wonder how to fix it. You have to re-calibrate the machine for the small and large frames. Basically what is happening is the machine's calibration isn't precise and it is getting confused on what frame is on the machine when the hat frame is put on. Once you re-calibrate it, it should work without a problem. It's been a few months since I had to do that, so I don't really remember what to do, but look up frame calibration and you should find it.

Does anyone have a Brother Super Galaxie 3000 needle plate they no longer require or would like to sell. Part Number is XA9844 which is written under the needle plate.

Search for the part on the internet. There are sewing machine parts vendors or sometimes the part will be available on auction sites, ie eBay. You can also look for internet groups who sell sewing machines, parts, accessories, etc.

Need help, I keep getting error c 12 hoop size is smaller than embroidery data, I have the right size hoop on for the embroidery design I' using.

Perhaps the machine is not recognizing the hoop you have installed. Could be a computer component or software glitch or something wrong with the hoop itself.

You might try contacting a local machine dealer for support or contact the online manufacturer support.

I have a 1030 Bernina sewing machine and for the first time in 10 years the needle will not move up and down. It will go side to side. It stopped while sewing and won't restart. I have checked all of the...

Take it to your Bernina dealer, they should be able to determine what is wrong and hopefully fix it, free. You really do not want to do something that could void your warranty. My Bernina dealer is super nice and always helpful, they are very professional. I hope that it is just some silly thing, like mine was.

I just bought a used Designer 1 with Customizing Software. The customizing program recognizes the a:Floppy external drive to receive designs. When I try opening the Disk Manager so I can download them,...

Don't insert the floppy disk in the drive until you are ready to actually do the writing to disk. If it still won't recognize that there is a design disk there, try re-formatting using disk manager - you will lose whatever designs are already on the disk, so make sure to save them to your hard drive using Windows Explorer first.
You might just need updated drivers for your floppy drive. Try an internet search by searching for Husqvarna Customizing drivers, or something like that.

My singer featherweight can fill a bobbin but when I try to sew the motor hums and tries to turn the wheel but the wheel does not turn. Could this be due to the machine needing oiling? or what do you...

Hi. These are the greatest (and cutest!) machines ever!
Whatever's causing the wheel doesn't turn, now is a good time to give your baby a really good cleaning and oiling. This should probably be done every 8 to 10 hours of sewing to keep the lint from building up and everything moving smoothly.
Sometimes you need to give the wheel a quick turn, sort of a helping hand, I've found--especially on thick or heavy fabrics. Have you tried that?
Here's a quick list of other things to check:
1. Is the belt too tight? It should be no tighter than needed to keep it from slipping. 2. Is the belt worn and needing replacement? 3. When did you last lubricate the motor? (NOT oil--never oil--but Singer lubricant in the two little grease cups. 4. It may be time to replace the brushes in the motor. (Super, super easy--the brushes are cheap (order them from and the job takes maybe 5-10 minutes.
Here's how you check the brushes in the motor:
1. There are two screws (plastic caps, really) that hold the brushes in place. One is on top of the motor and the other is on the bottom. The one on top of the motor is on the opposite end of the motor from the belt. (I've posted photos at
2. Unscrew the caps and the brushes will pop out. The brushes consist of a copper coil connected to a carbon brush (which does not look anything like a brush!) The opposite end of the brush from the copper coil is concave. The brushes themselves look square but are actually rectangular. Use an old, soft cloth and wipe the black carbon buildup off the brushes.
3. Measure the brushes. Anything shorter than 1/4" needs to be replaced. The ones in my machines measure about 1/2" inch.
Try these suggestions and let me know if they help, ok? If you get stuck, let me know and I'll be glad to walk you through it.

I think the problem may be with the folder structure on your flash drive!

You need to start by creating a new folder called EmbF5, and put your designs in that, in another folder which should be called MyDesign. You can have other folders within EmbF5 - all the folder names must have 8 letters or less, but the design names can be longer. The machine uses jef format designs.

There are several Yahoo Groups for users of the Janome embroidery machines, many of the folks on them are very knowledgeable and will help with problems.

I hope this helps
