Sharp Aquos LC C3242U - Intermittant Sound Switching from Mono to Stereo

Intermittantly I get a blue box popping up in top right corner of the TV Screen showing Cable - Analog 8 and then Audio - Mono (sometimes in red text sometimes in green text) and then sometimes it switches and shows Audio Stereo - and there is a buzzing noise. Appears to be an uneven audio signal. Time Warner says it is the TV. Sharp denies any sound issues/problems with their TVs but I am seeing a lot of problems posted.

I have the same issue. Is there a way to prevent this display box from popping up regarding the switch between mono and stereo? It is very distracting.

  • Wren07 Dec 19, 2008

SAME PROBLEM! Sharp has to understand that this is a problem. We need to see if we can point a Sharp tech to this forum to read the comments.

We got this TV 2 weeks ago and have tried every setting to fix it. Nothing... I am switching to a new HD box from Comcast in a week or so.

I have the same problem - 42D64U - It's SUPER annoying and there is no fix to it. All my other TV's work just fine on the same jack - it's obviously a Sharp issue.

I have a sharp aquos 40inch HD TV that also has intermittent sound problems only on certain channels. Trying to watch certain channels and having the sound go off and on is so annoying. My husbands TV has no problems with any channels but is a Visio. I have been fighting with Sharp about this for 2 years now and they don't seem to be concerned. They say it's the cable. The cable has been replaced throughout my house and from the pole into my house. They did try to switch the main board of the TV but it didn't help. Just cost me $160.00 for nothing. I know I will never buy another Sharp.

Not sure if I just got lucky or if the problem is solved..I hooked up my Sharp Aquos LC-32D64U the other night and I had the blue audio box pop up. Mine was only in Mono and would not switch to Stereo...Well, Local cable company is of of Hi-Def boxes but I thought what if my Digital box is bad/old or has some sort of problem. I went down to comcast cable company switched to a different digitial box..came home, hooked it up and so far no blue audio box, plus now it shows that it's in stereo..good luck

This happens when you are connecting with a coaxial cable. If possible you will need to connect your set top box to the television with a composite/RCA cable and watch tv on input 2 instead of on input tv.

Replacing the cable box may fix the problem. But, you're the 4th person to have this same problem with this SHARP TV MONO only audio.
Try system reset button on the back of the TV or the box.

Sharp aquos a box with mono and stereo and channel 3

Commercials are broadcast in lower quality than the programs, and it is normal for the signal to change when going to commercials. If you are watching ATSC you will notice also the video changes from HD (widescreen) to SD (normal) as well.

switch from 75 ohm coax to the rca jacks (red and white) even better would be coaxial digital sound (orange rca jack)or optical for the best raw 5.1 channel sound there should also be a way to use the menu to turn off notifications like that

Aquos Channel Bar/audio bar

There is no factory option to stop the box from poping up every time the signal changes, which is what is happening. It has something to do with signal strength or the fact that your cable box is not set up for HD. Call your cable company to get a tech out to check your signal and set up your cable box because they do not come pre-set with HD defaults.

Green box keeps popping up in upper right corner

You should be watching your dvd's on an input and not on tv analog 3. Every time the tv "senses" a signal change in the audio that screen will pop up. Connect the DVD player to the tv by using either the red, white and yellow (composite) connections or using the green, blue, red, white and red (component). Once you are on an actual input that box will stop popping up.
