Zanussi FLE1116W will not fill with water

when I switch the machine on it does not automatically go to previous programme as it used to. I select the programmes, temp spin etc, the start light flashes but nothing happens when pressed. If I do this with the door open it repeats the click noise that it usually makes once before beginning to fill. It is cold water feed only and the pressure is fine and the pipe is clear. The light on the right for the water fill symbol does not illuminat. It did once after I checked the pipe but hasn't since. I have almost all the spare parts for the machine but do not know which bit may need replacing. Help!
