I'm trying to get my 6 yr old Visor Deluxe to now work on a new PC but after I've downloaded the new PALM Desktop V401 using WinDesktop_401_ENG_V.exe, I find that when I click on the button on the cradle to start the sync, I only hear something like a beep-beep sound on the PC.
From reading some of the Q&A to solve the problem, one thing is I on the Drivers directory of the Handspring directory, the drivers listed are PalmUSBD.sys and PalmUSBD.inf. The Q&A says this the the WRONG driver and it should be PalmUSB.sys.
Where do I get the correct Drivers. On the Q&A, it says the Drivers are bundled with the PALM Desktop software but when I load the software I get the (above) wrong drivers.
Any ideas how to resolve drivers needed?
I also find when I loaded the Palm Desktop, I got an error msg during the installation, something about a Macro in Word or Excel but when the installation completed, yet I seem to find the program has been installed (correctly?).
I've also tried to use the program in the Handspring directory, "USB Utility" which I think cleans out the register, so you can then reinstall PALM Desktop with the correct drivers. I've done that and still same problem.
Problem is fixed: Not sure how I fixed but I think it was when I shutdown PC and restarted. Then I tried to SYNC again AND then I found WINDOWS saying it found new hardware (the cradle).
This time I knew to say I'd tell where the drivers were and I chose the Drivers directory of Handspring directory and the installation proceeded OK this time. (drivers are PALMUSBD.inf and PALMUSBD.sys)

I used to have the palm pilot but never really liked using it... but I always loved the desktop version that was used to synchronize the info. It was so simple to use as an address book. I still have the installation CD and I still use it on my Windows Vista believe it or not. Is there a way that I can update the software to the newest version without buying the actual hand held palm pilot? The installation CD color is green and it says 1999-2000 Handspring, Inc - part no. 50-0115-00. I don't mind paying for the software if I have to. Thank you for your help! Terri

The hard keys of my Handspring Deluxe (8mb, black, Palm OS 3.1) started to fail some time ago, at the beginning it happened sometimes the datebook button didnīt work, now is not only datebook button but up and down button too.
up and down hardkeys are very important. Iīve searched hard for an application to reassign hardkeys but the closer ones to my problem remap only a damaged power button not the other hard keys, other apps deal with remapping soft keys to launch applications, not the functions of the up and down hard keys.
Please, if someone knows a program to reassign those hard keys up and down functions to other soft keys even a stylus solution, or a DIY repair (because I donīt want to send it to Palm) please let me know, thank you
